Got this from the 'Brad sez Andy is a thief' thread.

http://jobs.jobvite.com/tvgnetworkbetfairus/job/oye15fwC

TVG is hiring on-air(head) talent! This could be you as long as Culver City is the place for your dream job. Some highlights:

Essential Functions:
'Announcers are to ad lib for hours at a time with direction being given to them via IFB.' Guess they left out the word 'intelligently' here.

Required Functions:
'Min 2 years at a broadcast television network doing live on-air announcing in horseracing.' Um, since you engulfed and devoured the only other broadcast horseracing network, wouldn't all meeting these qualifications already be on-air with TVG???

Physical demands (ADA):
'While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear.' OK so is that (walk) and talk or hear, or walk and (talk or hear), or walk and talk (or hear)? All at the same time???

'The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or use calculator or numerical keys on computer keyboard.' To finger, handle or use? That is the question...

'Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.' Present and former stews need not apply.

'The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time as well as bend, reach, and stoop, or kneel...All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed.' With apologies to thaskalos in the other thread, I just combined those two in the same paragraph as the the former prolly explains the latter.

It feels like these requirements are written to discourage handicap people from applying, and thus, sidestep any issues associated with denying them the position.

I am pretty sure TVG is well over their handicapped hiring quota. They definitely don't need anymore brain dead hosts.

Basically, you need to keep it fresh and lively, and that is very difficult to do on a daily basis because we are talking about real world people, human beings, with all their idiosyncrasies, habits, strengths AND weaknesses, the good, the bad, and yes the ugly too..

...it is not like these are movies, or mini-series shows...it is live, in your face camera work...and let's face it, how many of us are THAT cute, THAT intelligent, THAT respectable, THAT proficient (at handicapping) to do the grind they do for their shifts...there is only so much a person can ramble on about before it gets inane, for anyone..

...put up the most beautiful person you can get, and 4 weeks later they are old hat, because by then we will KNOW EVERYTHING about them, they become familiar, their novelty wears off, we see through them, they begin to bore us...just for being themselves...

...The TVG roles are tough to keep fresh...and we must remember that a horse race is for the most part, a very simple thing...a bunch of animals race in a circle and one finishes ahead of the others...we call that "the winner"...

...How many times can a person watch a horse race...over and over again...it is really not that profound of an experience...and once you have "done it" doing it again is JUST THAT...doing it again...after awhile you have done it enough, and you move on to something else..It is only for so long, that a person can be "excited" and "charismatic" about essentially, very mundane events...they pay you for your "passion" for the sport, and for keeping it all alive in the hearts and minds of others...

I'm assuming that having a personality would be a negative?

You know when TVG is at its absolute BEST?
When they have NO hosts and play muzak.

I'd settle for some respite from the same overplayed commercial's.
