Three part series, great stuff. Absolutely have to watch part two. We had nine chances to pull the trigger on bin laden before 911, didn't happen. Clinton gets bent, Richard Clarke looks quite bad in interviews.

Both pubs and dems took a hit here. Politics before the nation. Must see tv.

In other words, the political establishment gets caught wallowing in the muck and mire of their own corruption -- and political correctness, no doubt.

Clark looks like a complete idiot and probably a CAUSE of 9/11.
Clinton nine times at bat and strike out.
Our government clearly is worthless.

The amount of chatter intelligence agency's track was at a high mark suggesting something was imminent to occur inside the United States and those intelligence agency's got through to the Bush administration, the disconnect was what to do about it. Using planes for weapons was not something that made it into the "what if" scenarios, the intelligence agency's never responded to "what should we do" question adequately. Justification for all out war is normally a reactive thing, note the reluctance to shutting down current war zones like Afghanistan.

Using planes for weapons was not something that made it into the "what if" scenariosOf course it did. In fact, NORAD had done a simulation of just that:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/04/19/norad.exercise/

And depending on what you believe, an exercise based on a plane crashing into a building was planned for 9/11 ITSELF, by NORAD...but there has been a lot of effort to dispel that as nothing but a hoax rumor:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_government_operations_and_exercises_ on_September_11,_2001

But there were other planned drills and exercises for that day, interestingly enough...

Certainly interesting reads, guess I am corrected. By the time all planes got grounded, it was way too late for focus on that. Unless they had chatter pointing to that it is unlikely directing the federal government would have succeeded. I do think many mistakes happened but I doubt enough credit was given in scale to pull off something that took several years to plan. Given that the President and cabinet were warned, big time extra security and focus on soft targets was all they did.
