It seems like New York and SoCal know the proper meet length. True the winter Aqu meet is long but even that's split up with an inner dirt and regular meet. These meets at AP, Calder, Pha, and Del are just too long, IMO. One gets burned out after 2 months or so.

Actually, I kind of like long meets. I think you find some long term biases that can really play to your advantage.
Example: Last year at Arlington post 1 was death at the one mile distance (A very popular distance at AP). It had an impact value for the year of .57 and your return on a $2 investment was $.70. For those of us that paid attention (and it was amaziing how many didn't) this automatic throw out made handicapping a lot easier.

Isn't Philadelphia's meet year round anyway?

I would think you'd have to set aside certain months to take off for a year round meet like Pha. AP's meet is a little shy of 5 months and I have to take time off from that.
