5f mdn sp wt on the turf.

Short synopsis, #1 and #2 take up on the turn for no apparent reason, opening the rail up for #5, who is 5-1 on the board. #5 wins, now board shows 3-1. #2, by the way, is a heavy favorite. One man's opinion: it stinks of chicanery.

Anyone else see this race??

without having seen the head on (not on Twinspires yet)...

the innocent explanation would be that the 1 was very rank and the jockey yanked his head sideways to prevent worse carnage..taking the 2 and 6 out of the race in the process.

The 1,2, and 6 pulled-up, abruptly.

The 7 was the the only horse in front of them, and wasn't stopping.

The 8 was patiently ridden, especially when he passed the 5 on his own power on the back stretch, but may not have been involved in the trouble that caused the 1,2,6 to be abruptly pulled-up out of contention.

Upon viewing the head-on, the 7 was wider and not in the path of the 1,2, or 6.

Upon reading the chart, the chart-caller says that the 1 steadied in tight, and the chart caller missed the trouble with the 2 and the 6.

I do not know what happened.

1 was not impeded in any way. Looks like the horse going by on it's outside (7?) startled the 1 and impeded the 2.

Maidens.

The odds on the 5 were flashed on the video 17 seconds into the race and showed 3/1. That was long before the incident in case you were suggesting there was some after the bell cancellation or past posting or something.

i think the #1 horse (Indygo Humor) was spooked by the #7 horse and might have even starting climbing a bit at which point the jockey basically panicked and pulled the horse up.

it's amazing that the official chart lists that as merely "steadying along the quarter pole" and having at least mentioned that much said nothing about the other two horses having somewhat unfortunate trips.

chartcaller did a crap job on that writeup, no doubt. 2 and 6 were significantly impeded, and the 1 had 100-200 yards of big league trouble where he was being yanked on and not ridden out.

The only thing suspicious about this race is that I actually thought it was a good idea to bet it. What a horrible race.

Any way to read the official stewards' review?

Not a fan of mnr's chart crew. And that's putting it mildly. VERY mildly.

What does ridden out mean?

What does ridden out mean?

If the jockey continued to persevere through the wire, or not.

In this case, horses were actually pulled up.
