Needed him badly to keep P5 going and P4. Had a significant DD bet to him from the 20-1 shot in the previous.

Brain fart? Head up butt?

That entire race stunk, but that was a really bad ride. Probably one of his worst. You've got every right to be very pissed.

Same here except I had his brother on the 1. Iwrap Ortiz. How they let those horses get away with those fractions and expect to close is beyond me. NY turf racing has become such a joke with this colony. Other than Kendrick Carmouche, no one is aggressive.

This race was a complete chaos race because everyone held. In Hong Kong, they would have to explain themselves to the stewards. Here business as usual.

Finished well considering he never had clear sailing, looks like he kept running past the finish line - work out within a race perhaps?

==============================================

So, the P5 pool size has increased and the payouts have been great since it started. However I put in a couple big tickets on carryover days and lost so yesterday when I handicapped I skimmed through it first to see if I could find some singles at big prices.

The 7 who won at 20-1 looked terrible as a beaten favorite BUT I asked my self why would a pretty solid Trainer not drop in class after last two poor performances plus I believe he had a pretty quick workout since raced. So I said screw it I'll single him and if he wins I have a hell of a shot at a really big P5. Then in the next the first time gelding angle was in play and either the first or second work in his set since gelded was pretty quick hopefully signifying readiness to win. That's why I singled him. I did play additional P5's where I singled the 11 in the last race and he lost. Anyway, as you can see I got sick watching that ride. All he had to do was angle out but I think he rode the race not thinking the gelding was ready to win and needed a race which obviously wasn't the case. The opportunity to make a huge score only comes around a few times a year and when you miss them it doesn't even out over time. It means you just missed them.

I hate to say this Andy but it looks to me that he was never going to win the race. He was allowing the 1 to dictate what he did. In the head on you can see he quits riding about half way down the stretch when he started to threaten the 1.

He needed to make a move outside coming into the stretch but he let horses behind him move first and then in mid stretch he should have angled out again.

What's done is done. These kinds of rides happen to everyone several times per year. One of the things Horseplayers have to live with.

I don't agree. A competent ride and he's right there at the finish.

I totally agree with you Andy that there are so few opportunities to make the big score. It's one thing if your horse isn't good enough. Another if you get a crap ride and/or trip.

It NEVER evens out.
