From the article:

"The move carries significant political implications following Trump's verbal assault on Toyota and other companies that sell foreign-made cars in the U.S. It was not immediately clear whether Trump's threats factored into the decision."

We should know soon. Kudos to him if he did actually make a deal. If so, I hope that we are able to know the terms of the deal. Any predictions for which state will get the plant? Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina? I am betting on a low wage, non-right to work state.

Japanese automakers Toyota and Mazda plan to announce Friday that they will build a new $1.6 billion vehicle assembly plant in the U.S. that would create 4,000 jobs, a person familiar with the plans said.

The announcement is likely to be viewed as a victory for President Trump who has been pushing foreign automakers to make more vehicles in the U.S.
Toyota and Mazda put this deal together in the last 6 months?

Toyota and Mazda put this deal together in the last 6 months? :rolleyes:If not then they had plans set up for this if by chance a republican made it to the white house. good corporations have many plans in play pending different circumstances all the time. smart business practice.

He needs to keep working....

"According to the Labor Department, an average of 184,000 jobs per month have been created this year, compared to 187,000 in 2016. If you eliminate January, when President Barack Obama was still in office, the monthly average is a somewhat lower 179,000." (Source: Politico)

...way too early to judge him, of course

But those numbers were "fake" when Obama was in Office "unemployment was 40%" ... Nothing has change vis a vis how they are calculated but now they are "real".

...way too early to judge him, of coursewish they would list several things with those numbers. full time? government job? wage of these jobs? etc. etc. Then you'd see the real picture.

Good job news for July.
Stock market set another new record.

If this is chaos, I'll have another cup please.

Stock market set another new record.

If this is chaos, I'll have another cup please.

Trump partisans should be careful about taking credit for the economy today, however. We are in a clear asset bubble — one almost as obvious as the stock market bubble of the 1990s and the real estate bubble of the 2000s. The problem is that the current bubble encompasses both. Meanwhile, Trump is doing nothing about our massive looming government debt bubble, which will precipitate the biggest economic disaster of them all.

Nobody even talks about the debt any more.

A more immediate threat is the Fed’s decision to begin unwinding its balance sheet — a move that typically results in a recession. Whether that recession hits before or after 2020 will have a lot to do with whether Trump gets re-elected.

Congress is taking a much deserved 5 week vacation after laboring mightily to pass sweeping legislation.

When they come back after Labor Day, they have to deal with the debt ceiling and yet another budget deal to keep the government running past September.
