Just won the first race at Saratoga with 99-1 shot "Perplexed".

Has Lukas ever had a horse pay this much to win before?

I cant remember one even coming close..

that horse actually faced better horses than anyone else in the race. i wish i played him to win, but i did have him in a 3 horse spread for the pick 5 -----the rest of the numbers are:

race 2 14+15
race3 5+6

race 4 1.2.8.9

race5 1,2,7

Nowhere near 99-1, but Spain paid $113+ when winning the BC Distaff.

Take Charge Brandi paid a ton in the BC too. I know about that one because my mother hit it big- her biggest score of her life and she has been going to the track for 80 years and saw Seabiscuit run as a kid.

I knew there was another obvious one I was forgetting. Thanks. Take Charge Brandi was even longer odds than Spain at 61-1. That filly went on a nice little tear afterwards to validate the BC effort. Too bad she came undone at 3, hopefully she passes on her great bloodlines.

Good Luck! 7 is HUGEthats wildcard horse, i threw him in because the AP INDY line tends to like off tracks and i couldn't really eliminate the filly.

Lukas horse should have paid under $15, no idea how they let that one go off that high.

Excellent !! Congrats.

Just wait one minute. If the OP didn't start this thread re:Wayne Lukas, we wouldn't have known about this. Makes one wonder how many p5's and p6's you're keeping undercover. :)

I remember Lambo telling me to stop wasting my time with these “gimmick bets”.

Regardless, that was a beauty.

Regardless, that was a beauty. :ThmbUp:they are a waste of time, but that's why i played it today, i had a shot to cash for $100k today on a $72 bet. i hardly play them, but this is the type condition i like to play in Saratoga, i happen to love off the turf races.

Hennig's horse disappointed again today.

Just won the first race at Saratoga with 99-1 shot "Perplexed".

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DFhBdPOWsAE_3Kg.jpg

Interesting first race winner. Owned by the Zayat Stable of American Pharoah fame. Ahmed Zayat was born in Cairo, Egypt.

Monday's longshot winner was sired by Maimonides, who was named after a revered philosopher and Torah scholar often referred to as the Second Moses.

The horse, Maimonides, was bought by Zayat as yearling for $4.6 million, but didn't account for much as a runner. Interestingly, Maimonides' sire was named Vindication.

Lifted from Wiki:

Maimonides was named in honor of the Jewish philosopher Maimonides, who is respected by both Jews and Muslims. At the time, Zayat explained, "If this horse was going to be a superstar, I wanted an appropriate name... I wanted it to be pro-peace, and about loving your neighbor."

Maimonides (1135-1204) wrote The Guide for the Perplexed in a three-part letter to a student of his.

I am sure that many people --aside from our friend lambo, of course-- were perplexed themselves after the running of the first race. :)

At least they spelled it correctly.
