Need some input from you horse racing experts. Have been noting BIG show pools (i.e. 600K at Monmouth today (Timeline), 400K 1st race at Prairie Meadows on Wed, 237K at Prairie Meadows last Sunday, Gun Runner was crushed in the show pool at Churchill Saturday, don't remember exact amounts, Belmont consistently will have a horse in excess of 200K), My question is where are people able to wager 50-100K to show on a horse?

I don't think there are any ADW's that tolerate large show wagers. Years ago you could bet 5K at the Westgate in LV, now they don't take more than $500 in show wagers and I don't think there are any Vegas casinos that take negative show pool action. So I am curious where these wagers are getting placed IF I was so inclined to make such a wager.

This is not intended to illicit a discussion on the pros or cons of these types of wagers, just curious what venues accept these wagers.

I don't think my adw has a limit on show wagers. Any wager you can make at the track is ok at the adw, they just don't pay any rebate on negative pools.

I have also been searching for the answer to this question . My only thought is that the host track is not pushing the money back and some larger simulcast location with numerous self-service machines are being used. You are correct ADW's are intolerant of any larger($500+) show money. Some have even closed those pools and other will close your account if you do not adhere to their request for abstention from minus pools.

Better yet, who is making these wagers and why?

Can if be shown that they are profitable in the long run? 1 loser in 20 (most tracks pay 2.10) and you lose.

There was an OTB up in SE, where people make big bets in last minutes.

They have made a SA horse 2/5, from a 6/1 at post time years ago, and it seems like the big bets came from this place.

Since the ADW would be responsible for covering the shortfall on any negative pools, most of them can and will shut down your account if they have reason to believe that you're actively trying to contribute to a minus pool. Although they will usually warn you first.

Harder to catch this at tracks or OTBs, where people can just take cash to various tellers or self-service machines and spread the money over multiple transactions. I would imagine that these are where most of the action takes place.

bridge jumping SHOULD be killed because BREAKAGE should be killed and $2.02 should be the minimum payoff on straight pool wagers.

How the hell do you move around 50-200k without getting flagged nowadays anyway? Anything over 10k is supposed to generate a red flag

Only if one draws attention to themselves..
Don't know if you remember the first $300 million plus Power Ball winner.
Anyway, hwe was a odd guy. He was really stupid with the money too. Was a simple old country preacher with little education.
Hated banks. Anyway, one night he called the cops because his suv was broken into. He claimed that he had over $100k in the vehicle. So had he not been robbed, no one would have been the wiser.

Having it laying around and using it in a transaction are two different things. It is hard to believe it is allowed at the track without somebody checking up on it.

Was this the west Virginia guy? Had money stolen at some strip.club..his daughters friends were overdosing at his place? Money wrecked that dudes life
