Three states that legalized concealed carry without a permit report a drop in gun crime.

FBI crime report figures show that Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming–three states that abolished their concealed requirement years ago–have since witnessed a decreased in handgun murders.

This didn't fit the Obama narrative.... Thus it cannot be true.....

Personally I don't like *expanding* the conceal / carry law,s for the record. What we have in TX is fine with me.

I don't know what you have in Texas, but I have no problem with permits on a shall-issue basis, with a requirement for qualified training decided at the state level.

Permit-free carry without regard for training or background checks is a little scary, especially in more populous areas. Permit-free carry in Alaska or Wyoming is a much different animal than in Illinois or Michigan.

Proving that criminals prefer to prey on the helpless. Crooks don't like complications, especially when they can be on the wrong end of them.

C&C training is required in TX, about an all day affair I believe

I just don't like expanding the law. To use a firearm in public you need to have a rock solid reason IMO. beyond "I feel I needed to use it". We've had some bonehead idiots pull out their firearms with negative consequences here. On the whole however, it's perceived as a positive. I'm all for c&c, but not expanding the law beyond the original intent

FWIW, I don't own a firearm, never needed one in TX. I did have one in my car when I traveled to Lafayette, LA on a regular basis years ago. Parts of that area aren't safe. Two friends there suggested I keep a weapon of some sort concealed in the car "just in case". But in Dallas I personally don't need to carry (but know it's necessary, for some)

Guns don't kill people, gun-free zones kill people.
