Good Morning from soggy, water-logged, rain-drenched Boston (actually about 20 miles west).
Well, the Cavs eliminated the C’s from the playoffs (as expected); yet the Sox (that’s the Red Sox) swept the Rangers. The bright hose have now won four-straight (ties a high in wins for the 2017 season).
Periodically, I’m gonna look back and see how I did with my racing picks from the previous day’s card.
Race One:
If you boxed my top two picks in the first race, you would have picked up a decent exacta. It was the :4:-:1:, instead it was the :1:-:4: (I thought the :6: was vulnerable) The exacta paid $23.60 for $2. Not too shabby!
Race Two:
My second pick, the :1:, Katie Ice (I picked the 5 on top) prevailed (I will generally play $2 DD boxes with my top two picks in each of the first two races, i.e., :1:, :4: w/:5:, :1:. An $8 investment. The early double, :4:-:1: paid $34.
Race Three:
I was out in “leftfield” in this one as one of my throw-aways, the :5: won.
Race Four:
In this race, I redeemed myself. My top pick, :10: Beautiful Nite Sky popped. Javier’s one of the best; he demonstrated that in The Preakness. $5.50 is nuthin to write home about, but a win is a win. Oh, I picked the exacta “cold” for $14.20; also, the tri “cold” $41.20 for a $2 wager. I must admit I got “healthy” in this race.
Race Five:
One of my four top choices, the :5: Scarlet Goddess prevailed (I couldn’t bet her as an even-money shot).
Race Six:
My top pick, the :6:, did not do it (finished fourth).
Race Seven:
Redemption time. You might have thought I was crazy to put #:1:, Mishegas, on top; yet, the horse prevailed to the tune of $15.20 for a $2 ducat. Nice ride by “Double-A,” Angel Arroyo. The exacta “cold” with :2: Indycott provided a tasty return of $55. If you happened to play a $1 4-horse tri box (with my top four picks) – cost $24 – your return was $137. A net profit of: $113.
Race Eight:
:5: surprised me (thought she might have troubled getting the distance).
Race Nine:
My top pick, the :12:, finished fourth.
I'll be back later with my selections for today's card.
