GRAND ISLAND, Neb. Fonner Park suspended simulcasting of the Preakness and interstate simulcasting as of Friday, May 19, according to the group's Facebook page.
According to the post, the suspension was due to "the inability to reach an agreement with the Horsemen’s Benevolent Protective Association" after the park sent three proposals to the HBPA over the course of nine days, all of which were rejected by President Barry Lake.
"Fonner Park has therefore requested an immediate public hearing with the Nebraska State Racing Commission," the post said. "The inability to reach an agreement with the horsemen is having a detrimental effect on Fonner Park and on horse racing in Nebraska."
