Congratulations Cloud Computing

I am an amateur at horse racing and handicapping, but it seemed that Always Dreaming was going to struggle to finish it wire to wire, I don't know.

Cloud Computing shut him out at the top of the stretch.

Is there going to be a good field in the Belmont Stakes? Are we going to see any top class horses fighting for the prize?

Keep on riding and handicapping.

Good luck

The prize is probably around $900K to the winner, and maybe $200-300K to others in the money. Certainly worth fighting for.

Today's results showed that the race is up for grabs, and there will probably be more horses starting than there would have been if Always Dreaming had won. Especially with Classic Empire running second. Today's race also raises questions about the top two favorites being able to go the distance in the Belmont.

Should be a great betting race as long as we get at least 10 in the gate. I would think some Derby runners who skipped the Preakness might show up, and you've also got a couple of foreign horses on the radar too.

Since no horse has stood out so far and the good trips they got dictated the first two winners, plus anything can happen with 3 year olds running 1 1/2 miles I would expect an interesting race from a betting stand point and a pretty good sized field.

Unless, CE takes a shot at the Belmont, which I doubt, we will see all new faces at the Belmont. Should make for an interesting race.

Similar to other posters I think there will be a decent field in the belmont. You would have to think that Cloud Computing will enter if he comes out in good order. Based off of Always Dreamings race i would imagine he skips it and perhaps targets the haskell or Travers. Maybe Classic Empire gives it a shot. You will have several that skipped the Preakness looking to go there. Should make for an interesting race.

Since the build up of the Belmont super card it really does make the day stand on its own in the event a triple crown isnt on the line. As a bettor, Belmont Stakes day is my favorite day of the year outside of the BC.

skip Belmont, this way payouts will be great...Fav going to be 10-1:D
Every exacta combo will pay over $200:D

Mcpeek- he might have couple of horses

Asmussen- Lee horse will probably run and pick up some $$$. Lee horse is just working out...starts out last and finishes in the top 4 by jogging, and picks up a good check.

Do we expect a field of about ~10?

Which 'foreign' horses may enter?

Thank you

And if there are any foreign horses, will they get to be first-time Lasix?

This was never cleared up about Thunder Snow.

Why would foreign horses running here not be able to use lasix?

Even with the two big guns in the race the pay-off could be huge. How many times have we seen a horse with sub standard numbers move up going 12 furlongs while others can't get the distance? Correct me if I am wrong in the last couple decades horses that previously barley broke 90 on the Beyer scale have won the Belmont at over double digit odds.

just in, the belmont was cancelled and replaced with a 12k claimer going 12 furlongs.

The Pomona Fair used to card low level starter allowances at 1 9/16 miles on the 1/2 mile track. I oddly did well on those and loved them. Sometimes they were basically $3200 claiming races. I know my percentage hitting those was way higher than Belmont Stakes.

They can and sometimes do. However, many European countries, like Germany, do not allow horses who raced on drugs not be allowed to stand at stud. If they intend to stand them in their home countries when they return, why destroy their breeding careers by racing on Lasix.

What you're suggesting is a big stretch from the post I was responding to.

Ferndale still runs a 13 furlong $10,000 6 turn race every year.

I was optimistic after the Preakness, but the Belmont is going to be very unpredictable I think. I dont even know where to start.
