I spent some time In OK years back and besides the 110 heat in the shade I have one other no so pleasant memory of my visit. I was just reminded when I saw the entries for Churchill and in the 8th race there is a horse by the name of Chigger Bite. I don't know that anyone will support my playing this horse today but I am sure there are some who will attest to the reason for my unpleasant memories.
Ran like he had a bunch of chigger bites! Don't think I've ever had those, but maybe I haven't lived here long enough yet.

Thank your lucky stars
Chiggers are a terrible thing to go through. When I would visit my grandparents in WV as a kid.....you learn to stay out of the thick brush near any water, real fast.

Ralph you are correct. They are terrible. I fish a lot and I have found a remedy. The float tube fishing that I do causes a lot of contact with grass and chiggers close to the water. When I get home if I use rubbing alcohol from the waist down, this seems to eliminate chiggers and their bites.
Here in Oklahoma the chiggers are as bad as anywhere I have been.
This explains never having them. There will never be fishing or running through heavy brush near water for CJ.
