Dream Dancing and La Coronel raced uncoupled at Keeneland on 4-13-17. Today, they race coupled at Churchill Downs...what explains this...?

It could be in Kentucky each track has the option but is not required to allow horses with common ownership to run uncoupled, or it could be a change in ownership now requires coupling.

La colonel was entered In another race so If they uncouple and colonel scratches out of this spot, it leaves a blank betting slot, maybe they wanted a continuous 12 vs a 13 horse field w a blank spot.

Probably just a matter of stews/racing secretary having the discretion to eliminate coupling of common ownership in 'paid-in' or stakes races and one track in the state preferring to take advantage of it and add a betting interest and the other track just leaving them coupled as they would be in an ordinary race.
