There's been a fair amount of discussion of Donald Trump's multiple business ties to people from the Russian criminal underworld. This is not primarily contacts or associations that came up during the campaign but ties that go back in most cases a bit more than a decade. The regimes of Russia and other post-Soviet states are heavily kleptocratic. So the lines separating oligarchs from governments from organized crime bosses can be very hard to draw and in many cases are close to non-existent.

Exactly right! The only card the Dem(on)s have left to play is the illegitimacy card. We saw Schumer play it at the Gorsuch confirmation, and that forced the nuclear option. The Dems will not cooperate or play ball with the Trump administration on any issue because he shouldn't be in the Oval Office. He's illegitimate. This mean-spirited, sore-loser, obstructionist strategy will come back to bite them hard with mainstream Americans at election time. Not all Americans are half as stupid as the Dems seem to think.

Either Trump is way smarter than he's given credit for (and is thus able to hide all these "obvious connections" from one of the greatest intelligence agencies in the world), or there is no THERE there.
