Both Green Gratto and Irish War Cry are J-Breda.

Just to put that in perspective in 2014 the year Irish War Cry was born there were barely a hundred horses born in the state. The breeding program doesn't even rank in the top 20 largest. It represents half a percentage point of all horses born. It's literally a rounding error from non-existence. Basically New Jersey produces about as many thoroughbreds as Minnesota and less than such breeding hot beds as Arkansas, New Mexico, Washington and Iowa.

It's a stunning achievement.

Last jersey bred derby winner was Regret in 1915.

For decades, jersey was limited to real NJ bred horses by the inexpensive sires that stood there. Slady Castle comes to mind. I think Irish War Cry is only a J bred administratively.
