FYI,

... When everything’s ready to go and it’s April 11th or later, Windows will start prompting you to install the update. Depending on your system, it could take up to an hour, so make sure you’re not planning on using your PC any time soon. If you want to get the update sooner, it’s available for you to manually download right now using the Windows Update Assistant.

I've got W10 on a laptop, but pre-the first big update.
How long did that take to install?

Maybe I would be better off waiting until the new one is out there and get it all at once, before I put anything on it to begin with?

I have installed both updates on my Win 10 laptop. The first one took a long time (Anniversary) edition. This one was shorter.

I haven't had any problems with either (mind you, I installed the most recent one only 48 hours ago).
