With Batavia down indefinately and Buffalo wrapping up its season, Western NY will soon have no live harness racing for a while.

Heard today that WROTB has struck a deal with a Las Vegas gamming outfit to get cash enough to re-open Batvia, maybe later this year, and then fund the VLT room so the track can stay open and pay off old debts.
Good news for Western NY harness racing.

By doing this, they will no longer be paying track odds. Now the ridiculous OTB cut will com einto play. I can see them staying away in drove now. FL to the East, FE to the west, both pay track odds. No sense driving out to Batavia from Rochester or Buffalo for harness - OTB parlours pay same now.
WOTB......what a collection of nuts! This is what nepotism does to a business - that and hiring political hacks who knwo nothing about racing.
