View Full Version : Two requests - Ads on PaceAdvantage.com

Hi everyone,

Ads on PaceAdvantage.com are the only source of revenue from running this website. And running this site is not a thrifty endeavor. From the time needed to monitor and maintain, to the cost of hosting this site through a hosting company - on a dedicated mid-range server no less - the costs involved in maintaining PaceAdvantage.com are higher then you probably think. And our ad revenue is probably much lower than you think (I've had some pretty good laughs over what some people think I rake in from the ads here).

With that all said, I just want to make two requests.

1) Please don't use ad blockers on this site...especially since the recent website overhaul, ads do not decrease page-load times. All ads are set to load asynchronously, meaning webpage content will load and display regardless of how long the ads take to finish loading (which normally is only a matter of milliseconds on a decent internet connection). Ad blockers allow you to disable blocking on a site-by-site basis, and I would greatly appreciate it if you would disable ad blocking on www.PaceAdvantage.com.

2) If, after disabling ad blocking (or even if you don't use ad blocking at all), you don't see an ad appear where it should appear (for instance, the top of every page should have the logo on the left and an ad on the right), please delete your browser cookies. If you don't want to delete all of your cookies, you can simply delete any cookies from Google or DoubleClick.

In fact, deleting my cookies was the genesis of this thread. I noticed today that I was getting a lot of "blank spots" where there should be ads. It was driving me crazy. I decided to delete my cookies from Google and DoubleClick and bam, all the ads were back acting like they should. Then it got me thinking, I hope this isn't happening to others out there. So I decided to post about it here.

That's it. Thanks for your help.

As long as I have my Trackman Golf Club ad, I'm good. When I'm real tired, I just watch that ad, and I go into a nice mellow zombie state.

I haven't talked to those guys in at least a decade...never received one dime from them...but as long as their website remains active, that ad will stay on PaceAdvantage... :pound:

I know these people are a sponsor here...but what is the deal with BetPTC.com? Their slogan is "Racing's Best Kept Secret".....well yeah--no one can get an acct with them.

"Our wagering service is available to individuals 18 years of age and older that reside in an eligible state. Residents of Canada or the following states are currently ineligible to sign up for our service: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington. Some otherwise eligible residents will be excluded from playing certain tracks. These are not our rules, but the rules of the state in which you reside. International residents should contact our customer service line to discuss their eligibility. These exclusions will be updated from time to time as things change. Additionally, those holding racing licenses that have direct influence over outcomes of races are ineligible (racing officials, trainers, jockeys, etc)."

You see that, EMD? They refuse to take a jockey's "action"...maybe they know something

I'd like to suggest that you at least offer up a way for people to donate in some way to help defray some of those expenses. After being just about the last human to finally try ad-block (mainly because I do understand you need to eat), I find it hard to even deal with them for a moment they have gotten so demanding in general. I don't know which helps more in the long run, but I'd like to at least not feel guilty when I don't turn off the ad-block and I've certainly gotten my money's worth over the years. Fair warning before NorCalGreg chimes in: I like to send cash in an envelope. :D

The adds on PaceAdvantage are the reason that I started using Adblocker.

Google displays adds that are related to Google searches.

Early last year I was looking for a good price on T-Shirts.
My searches were for Mens T-Shirts and Undershirts. I immediately began to get adds on
PaceAdvantage with close up crotch shots of well endowed men wearing tight, tidy whities.

Another time after I searched for drag hooks, Google provided me with adds for, "I'm paraphrasing",
"Hookups with Drag Queens" and "Gay Hookups" near me.

BTW
I did not click on any of the adds mentioned above.

For the record, I've never seen that sort of thing...I've seen a lot of dating site ads, but nothing like hooking up with drag queens and I'm pretty sure no gay hookup ads, although I can't be 100% sure on that.

If that ever happens to anyone, just clear your cookies from google and doubleclick and you should be good to go...although you might have to clear some history too for all I know...

Or use ad blocker and screw me over...:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I was just served an ad to help Planned Parenthood. That group sure can target the opposition! :p
This site shows a wide variety of ads and I like to see what comes up here after some of my searches. The adsense folks certainly seem to know what I've been reading.

Does it help you out to click on some of the ads, PA?

Exact opposite here. I see an ad for some 5 mile obstacle course training. I have a fused spine that causes weak legs, two shoulders that could use operating on and treated congestive heart failure that makes it impossible to walk more than 1/4 mile at a time with out stopping to rest. Only 56, but was last active in my late 30's before all the health problems kicked in. I definitely don't search for anything a physically active person would and no one else uses my internet but me. I do notice on other sites ads for like items I shop for (mostly shop supplies) follow me around, but not here.

I've never seen anything like the offers for Asian and Russian women that I've been privileged to here. Never any men, now, just women--no Chairman Mao. No President Putin. :pound:

I don't know why these babes seem to pop up as I don't surf porn, gentlemen!!

They have become more infrequent in recent months. And for this, I'm thankful.

:D Hello!
Everybody need some kind of help at one time or another in one or more subjects.
I read your adds and let them be.
If I can find the help I am looking for I might even become a financial sponsor.

Here is my predicament:

Does anybody keep track of largest average payoff race tracks in North America or know anyone else that does?. I have a method that picks a lot of long-shots but I need to find out which tracks have the highest so I could use my method there.
Right now I am betting OP and getting excellent results:
7 days, 49 races, 13 wins with a 69 % profit on flat bets!!!!!
But OP is a short meeting and I need new venues to apply my trade.

Thanks and God bless you all. :D
