Ralph-

Maybe this is that "lion" some people in your area thought they saw running loose.

Probably a cheap claimer escaped from Pimlico due to lack of feeding.

Looks like a dog that lost most of it's hair, except for the front. Must be fairly small, not signifcantly larger than the kiddie pool it was drinking from.

It looks like it's half dog/half coyote....with a very bad case of mange. Poor thing!

Some of the other photos make it look a lot like a hyena, but it could be the haircut.

WOW this animal also is in s florida,I thinks its a poor abanded dog that has very bad mange, There is a dog here by a lake and I have saw him early in the mornings,This dog only has has a tuff of hair on his head, I did get very close to him but he was very afraid, I also detected a very foul smell coming from him. South florida has MANY abaned amimals on the streets, I do feel bad for them as Im always putting dog food out for them.Sad thing for these animals is that it isnt their fault. The goverment needs to protect animals a LOT better to STOP the abuse

I sure do agree with you, McShell!
Of course I am prejudice, I like dogs more than most people I know!

It is a wolverine; may need food' likes fowl, eggs, rodents. Suppose to be very vicious.

Looks like something that was bred in my mother's garden. We've had a woodchuck, a skunk, squirrels, chipmunks, and snakes, all within the last month. Mixed breed, perhaps? :) :D ;)

Ken-

Those Wolverines seem to lose viciousness when they head out to the West Coast. Seems to happen every September.

About 5 years ago I was doing a telecom install up in Prosser Washington, way up on a mountain about 10 miles from anything..finishing up for the day, my buddy and I loading our equipment into our car, came back from the hut with our stuff and theres this old dog laying in the backseat of the car.

We figure he must want a ride back into town, he's just super relaxed, so we drive back to town, stop at a supermarket to get some snacks and drinks. He jumps out the car with us, and comes right into the store, not our dog so I don't worry about it. We're in back grabbing some chips, hear some lady scream up front, that old dog must have been hungry, lady was grabbing some food from the deli counter, he jumped right up and snatched it out of her hand, nicked her a little but nothing serious...clerk starts yelling "who's dog is this!"....dog runs out the front door with his food, we buy ours and leave...

about three hours later we're driving back from the bar about 2 miles away from the supermarket, see a cop car with his spot line on, and our old dog running in front of his car.......

god, I still laugh about that old dog, hope he's doing alright.

Just heard on Fox that its either:

A.) A hyena
B.) A coyote
C.) A grey fox with a bad case of mange

It COULD be the missing link for all we know.
