Taking another run at my picking just one horse to win experiment. Today I'm playing all 9 races at Oaklawn. Betting each $20 to win. The picks:
Race -1 The :6: Looks like now or never time for this high priced Keen purchase and Asmussen. Drops into the maiden claiming ranks today and should be better than these at 5-2 ML.
Race -2 The :8: 3rd off the layoff for low percentage outfit who does hit at a high 24% with this move. Drops back in with friends today off the ambitious Alw try last out. I'll take 4-1 here.
Race -3 The :4: Another 3rd of the layoff move for this trainer hitting at 28% with the angle. Taking a shot that the drop in class will wake this one up today at a juicy 8-1 on the ML.
Race -4 The :3: Wide open event here which leads me to take a stab at this 10-1 ML shot. Has back races that would compete here. 3rd off the layoff for Lukas and this is just the type he wins with these days. Bombs away!
Race -5 The :5: Takes the blinkers off for Hobby today for the 2nd run off the layoff which Hobby hits at 17% with. Looks like a now or never run today at 7-2 ML.
Race -6 The :7: Just missed as the chalk last out and this trainer hits at 18% next out off the beaten favorite loss. Looks chalky, but is probably the best in here.
Race -7 The :3: 2nd off the claim for Martin who hits at 17% with this angle. Should get this added distance with no problem and has just enough speed to be dangerous. 6-1 on the ML seals the deal.
Race -8 The :1: 3rd off the layoff a 11% move for Moquett. Off slow in the last effort and I feel the 15-1 ML is way off. I think this one at the very least hits the trifecta. Bombs away!!!
Race -9 The :10:3rd off the layoff seems to be my key stat today. This trainer hits at a small 10% with the move. The race 2 back is very competitive here at a nice 8-1 on the ML.
Day 2 of this experiment underway.
