Hi Buddha, when the races are taken off the turf at the Mountain, do they remain at the same distance as they were carded on the turf?

Thanks in advance.

hi -

I'm not Buddha, but last week when we had the featured contest's
7 furlong turf race (two turns)washed away on to the main track,
they ran it on the main track at 6 furlongs. A horse of a different color.

A similar switch occurs when turf races are taken off the turf at Saratoga.
With rain, being a part 'n parcel of the Saratoga experience,
don't get caught napping. Read the fine print in the conditions,
for info on what they'll do when switched to the main track.

Good luck. :)

Any track that doesn't have an equivalent distance capability, would have to change the distance. MNR only has a 6F chute and would have to start a 7 furlong race on the turn. i.e. they never run 7F races there, planned or otherwise.

At MNR, I believe off the turf races carded for 7f end up being 6f races on the main track, and 7.5f and 1m off the turf races end up being 1m races on the main track.

Oh, and 1-3/8 mi. races originally scheduled for turf become 1-1/4mi. races on the main track if they're off the turf. I think.

Yea, most of the others covered it all, but I will try to do it also. I am going to put the turf distance, and equivalent dirt distance if off the turf.

4.5 F - Same
5 F - Same
7 F - 6F
7.5F - 8F
8F - Same
11 F - 10F
14F - Same
15F - 16F
