I grew up in Revere Massachusetts where we had Suffolk Downs that is the closest thoroughbred track to me. However they fell upon hard economic times a few years back and only have 6 days of live racing scheduled for this year. Here in New Hampshire where I bought a house a few years ago they no longer have a horse track after Rockingham Park closed it's doors in 2009. There are also harness racing tracks located in the state of Maine which is too terribly far from me as well.

They didn't close completely as they still offer simulcasting and a limited live racing schedule. However I believe 2014 was the year when they stopped running a full live racing schedule.

Yea it is. My dad organizes a trip to the Belmont stakes for all the guys at his work every couple of years and I sometimes tag along. Other than that the only time I really make it down that way is if I am already headed that way to go to Mohegan, Foxwoods, NYC, etc.

Lol. We almost bought a house in Ohio a few years back. We were looking at homes in historic south park in Dayton but plans changed and we now live on beautiful Lake Winnepesaukee.

I have would have to agree with that but I think every now and then when another champion horse captivates the nation it draws in a whole new crowd of fans to the sport.
