I am a system and software junkie and have bought several products and programs over the years. I have found Dave Powers (RPM) to be accessible, had no problems getting support when needed and have always had my money refunded, without question, when I have requested it.
That being said, I am always skeptical of anyone claiming to have finally invented the "black box." I buy these things to add to my knowledge and arsenal of handicapping weapons, but after 35 plus years of playing the horses (and I can honestly say I have stayed in the black over those years), I have never seen any one system that can consistently win over every track in all conditions.
Computer systems can never take into account sudden track biases and changes in the skills and strengths of trainers and jockeys. They also can't distinguish if a horse earned the best number easily (in a clear front running manner) or if they had a troubled trip.
If you can afford the program and the time to test it thoroughly and see what ways it works best for you, then by all means do so. It could be fun and if it is good (and there are some good programs) it can make part of your handicapping easier. But don't let it substitute for the knowledge and judgement you can add to the game. That's what makes playing the horses fun.
