I've recently joined the forum because I'm keen to learn as much about US horse racing to try and start making a profit. I'm trying to learn the terminology and get a feel for different race types. For UK racing I use a database called horseracebase.com which automatically shortlists selections which I then go through and bet what I feel is strongest.

If there's any sites on US racing that are similar please let me know and I don't mind a subscription fee is it's worth it. I'll aim to share some of my thoughts on the UK & Irish racing when I get a chance.

R5 Fontwell - John's Luck 3.5

Already shortened in price since I backed. The horse finished 2nd 5 days ago and the trainer has a good record when turning his horses out quickly.

R3 Newcastle - Natural Scenery 3.0

Last time out winner at the course and the trainer looks to have chosen this race as a good chance to follow up with a good jockey on board.

Good luck if you back.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I haven't looked at the sites but I have plenty of reading to get me started. Keep the suggestions coming.

It wasn't a big day of betting for me on my side of the Atlantic but at least my only runner won. Not sure if you can take prices early on my picks but 3.25 was available before being strongly backed in the 10 mins before race time.

I have 7 good bets for the 15th and I'll try and share a few later.

Cheers. I'm hoping to give something back while I learn about US racing.

R6 Wolverhampton - Castillo De Diablo 21.0

Not an obvious selection but worth a go at the price. Clocked a good speed rating last time out and an interesting jockey booking. The jockey has a good record at the track and is in form.

R2 Newcastle - Dingo Bay 7.0

Brian Hughes is the jockey to follow over the jumps when he travels north. Trainer is in good form and the horse drops to an attractive handicap mark. If it's last run successfully blew off the cobwebs then Hughes will have it involved at the business end of the race.

R7 Wolverhampton - Ms Gillard
R4 Kempton - Cherbourg

I'm waiting on more attractive prices on these but both have been placed to win.
