Actually, it looks like you saved money. If I'm reading this correctly, you weren't going to bet the 3-6?

Yes, the second bet was 1,3 OVER 6

D'oh! Sorry! :o

That hurts. Can't say this has happened to me on-line (for that kind of $$$) but it has at the track. I get in line with two minutes to post and only 2 people in front of me and still don't get my bet down. Grrrrr

CJ,

I thought I remember at one time that NYRA was notorious for shuting simos out at a minute or two before post. Have you been wagering New York over the net for awhile or is this first experience?

I've had a few, but usually only if i wait until the last minute, not three minutes to post. To be honest, most of them would have lost anyway! Was ahead in the "shutout" column before today.

TVG seems to be a little slower than Philly and BRISBet...why I'm using that one today, I don't know. Too lazy to transfer the money I guess.

Well, kinda had something like that happen....

In August of 1999, I phoned in a bet on a turf race @ Retama. $200 win/ place, and 2 trifecta tix that cost $45 total ($10 one way, $5 the other way).

I called in w/ 5mtp and was told that Texans c/ no longer phone in wagers on Texas tracks....the rule began that day!

The tri came in @ $490 and I hit it on the $10 ticket. I think the horse pd $14 to win. It was a Danny Pish turfer named Suesue Sue if I recall.

Since that night I haven't placed but one bet on Retama.

cjmilkowski -

Which betting service were you using?

I was using TVG. I have accounts with BRIS, TVG, and Philly. I should have been using Philly and I would have been safe, but I've been using that money for GP and SA, since it is the only place I can bet them.

Nothing worse than standing behind some fool at the teller window trying to decide on his final selections w/ a PP in one hand and eyes on the tote. Having said all that, internet wagering isn't all that bad...

I have had the same problem. I was unable to place a win wager on a horse that won at 17.50:1. But, I had several similar occurrences when the bets would have lost.

However, mine was caused by the internet connection. I had dial-up at the time.

I have had no similar problems since the cable modem arrived.

This is worse than a fish story because these kind of unfortunate things can cost big money.

If I were you, I'd stick with Philly. It seems that you can bet right up to post time with them, and not get shut out.

Since you have an account with Philly, I'm curious to know how you compare their interface with BRIS' and TVG's. Better? Worse? More user-friendly?
Less user-friendly?

Thanks,

With my limited excursions into online betting i've already found I have to bet much earlier than I do when at the racebook.
