Right next to or across the street from the convention center.

Dang, sorry just read the whole post. You will be in Mission Valley. You can take the trolley from there to downtown. You could get yourself up to Del Mar by trolley and then coaster but that is a more difficult journey. If you want to see the track I would Uber and then attend Surfside Race Place on the grounds for simos. Cali has simulcasting Wed-Sun, night racing Fri-Sun.

You could also take the rail from downtown San Diego to the Caliente book in Tijuana.

Don't you need a passport to even cross the border now? You didn't back when I went to Agua Caliente, but I last went 20 years ago.

I had completely forgotten about that, I'm sure that's true nowadays.

I just did some Googling you need a passport now. I think that got put in place after 9-11. My Aunt lives in Playa de Tijuana, she said you don't want to be in that area at night anymore a lot of the once nice clubs and restaurants around Pueblo Amigo (About a mile walk from the border, has a sportsbook) are boarded up. The drug traffickers have scared a lot of people away.

The book I remember from years ago was off Revolution Ave. Back in the day all the odds/everything was on chalk boards, guys walking around on catwalks making changes. Another era.

Pueblo Amigo, there is still one there I believe, but the area is no longer anywhere to be at night.

If you've never been to San Diego, then spend a few bucks and rent a car. It's worth riding around a little and it solves your simulcast problem. It's a great city to see and go up the coast a little to La Jolla or somewhere for dinner. Well worth it

What he said! :)

I've stayed at the Town and Country and lived in the SD area many, many years ago. There is so much to see and experience. Get out and about - the broader the better.

I talked to my Aunt who lives just south of the border on the beach for the first time in a while. Her and my Uncle Jorge were recently the victims of a home invasion robbery, thankfully no one was hurt. Anyway she just relayed more stories of corrupt cops and rampant crime in the area. Please if you thought about visiting Tijuana Mexico, forget about it. I used to go there a lot other than having to give a few crooked cops $20 bills and an issue with our own border crossing agents whose drug dog alerted on me for no good reason, I got away unscathed. I think I was real lucky.

I actually thought about making a trip to TJ since I am pretty close, but most people have said its not worth it.

I probably went 100 times (no exaggeration) for sports betting as for a period of 4 years I was only 75 miles away. I would say I had 5 bad experiences, and I knew to watch myself there. So with my small sample you have a 95% chance of having a pleasant time. Just a note 1-20 shots do lose and when up 28-3 the Falcons had a 99.8% chance of winning the Super Bowl.
