Trump as president could spark the beginning of legalized betting. The wheels are in motion. Trump has twice said sports betting should be legal. Hopefully he places a priority on this and PAPSA gets repealed.

He should legalize all sports betting and make the casinos pay a small % of their profits into the Social Security fund.

First, the IRS has to stop assuming you only bet $2 when you hit a taxable ticket paying $600.

Substitute "marijuana" for "sports betting" in that article and you have a template on how to get things done on a state-to-state basis.

We're all adults here and imho from pot to Pick 4s to parlays on the Playoffs, it's time for The Man to back off how we choose to spend our money on ourselves.

1000% agree. The Refer Madness mentality is slowly dying.

What a good question would be is when did all of us in here place our first illegal bet? Pretty sure the statue of limitations has expired, my first was football cards when I was 14. The lunch truck driver at my Step-Dad's work had bookie parlay cards. With the offshore accounts everyone has today I doubt the percentage of money people gamble would go up much if sports betting were legal everywhere.

What should the government do when people have ruined themselves financially pursuing that P-4? I am all for freedom provided a person accepts the consequences of their choices.

Isn't this the same kind of thinking that has made take-out percentages in racing too high to compete? The government has to get some sort of payola. Social security will get their share from the hiring of people to handle the increase in business.

I'd suggest that folks do some research into the views of Trump's new Atty. Gen. about internet gambling before jumping to any conclusions about this.

For critics of the push to legalize sports betting, that argument hasn’t changed. The NFL, the preeminent holdout on the subject among sports leagues, remains adamantly opposed to an end to the federal ban. Commissioner Roger Goodell called the potential for a legalized marketplace a “major risk” for the league mere days after its owners overwhelmingly voted to approve the Raiders’ move to Vegas.

"That is a major risk for us," Goodell said at a press conference earlier this month. "I think we have to make sure that we continue to stay focused on making sure that everyone has full confidence that what you see on the field is not influenced by any outside factors. That's our No. 1 concern. That goes to what I consider the integrity of the game, and we will not relent on that."

NFL opposes but The Donald and CONgress may need to make the search for new .GOV "revenue" higher if the economy goes south. I wonder if Trump will mention this today with his comments on revamping taxes....?

Adelson has pumped in too much money for inauguration for that to happen, although I agree.

I need someone to explain the NFL's logic when they promote and cover fantasy football yet the are against gambling on the games. Last I checked you have to pay to enter fantasy football leagues and the top finishers can win money. That seems to fit the definition of gambling where I come from.
