If you have Netflix and are a cat lover there's a short movie on Netflix titled The Lion in Living Room that you really should watch.

I love my cat.

I know she doesn't love me.

I can pretend.

She, as well.

You are allowed to love cats. As long as you understand that they only love the people who fed them last.

My cat will go on a hunger strike if I am gone too long. She is a picky eater but I found an expensive food she likes too much and if I just leave a full bowl out she will over eat, so I just put down small amounts multiple times a day.
Anyway if I am going to be gone for a weekend or a couple days more I have to put down an endless supply of food. Instead of gorging herself she actually will only eat 1/4 of her normal intake if I am gone for more than a day. On top of that when I return the longer I was away the more she will follow me around loudly meowing at me. When I went away for 5 days this past June I got meowed at constantly for two straight days.

So it's you... not the cat. ;)

They are very much like people. All different personalities. Dogs, not so much. Similar personalities across breeds etc.

I love em both though. I have a somewhat new dog. We've had her 6 months. Shes 11 months old now. Breed is called a Ratcha. She's been a blast. She gets along very well with the cats.

I have this show on my Netflix list......thanks for the reminder.

Two things...

1. I assume the vid based on the book?

2. I will always associate cat lovers with her...

I have my cat for 10 years...and he still looks at me with disgust. I see my sister's dog once a month...and the dog jumps on me and licks me as if I am his best friend.

The cats are REAL...whereas the dogs kiss ass.

My cat I know loves me, my former cat which died 3 years ago, would greet me at the door when I came home from work. I hope Elysian is not trying to justify violence against cats, I know there are a lot of sick assholes out there.

The Cat’s Diary

Day 983 of My Captivity

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am. Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now ...

Mostly because I'm a dog person and trainer.

Also because people don't keep cats as pets. Cats keep people as pets.

I don't understand extreme cat haters, my neighbor is a typical one. He complains constantly about the old lady at the end of the street feeding stray cats and the "excessive" cat population. Our paved street is about 3/4 miles long and has 6 houses on it some set back as much as 1/2 mile. The average lot in our neighborhood is 10 acres and there are a lot of vacant lots. The "cat lady" probably has caused an extra half dozen to a dozen cats to hang out in the area. That amounts to probably one cat for every 50-100 acres. How that bothers anyone is beyond me.

Those cats are slaughtering the local bird populations and any pond or water wildlife in the area.

They should be removed.

Cats may be cheaper than dogs to keep but they don't do anything to justify the expense.Dogs are like people who get up and work for a living; cats are welfare recipients. :D

Even with them and the handful of rat snakes that I run across in the warm months I will end up with a couple mice a year in the house. My cat used to kill them but now she just plays with them for some reason. She at least flushes them out so catching mice is a team effort, I just sweep them into a box and toss them outside.

OK my bad, forgive me because I have heard otherwise upstanding folks excuse violence against cats. Personally I like both cats and dogs, haven't had a dog for awhile, don't really have the space.
