Their story is both amazing and tragic.
They rose from the 4th Division of Brazilian football to it's top league (the 4th division!!), and if that's not amazing enough...they were traveling to play in the final of Copa SudAmericana, which is kind of like the Champions League of South America.
Most of them met their demise when their charter flight ran out of fuel and went down near the Medellin, Colombia airport.
Reading reports that the aircraft was flying at it's maximum range, with little room for error. Regs state that they must have an extra 30-45mins of fuel in order to reach another airport in case of an emergency.
