Seriously, I suspect Bush would have handled it at least as well as JFK did, probably better and faster. Kennedy did a lot of flip floping and eventually lucked into a solution.

Formula, seriously.. Which would you rather have:

A bold, sometimes arrogant president that stands up to these cowards, or...

A passive, green, flaky president who thinks that everything can be 'worked out nicely'?

Give me the bold president. One scenario you either sit huge or you are dead..

The other, you are a joke and not accepted as a World Power anymore..

Kennedy and his advisors obviously did a great job under the most trying circumstances. I'm sure Bush and his advisors would work hard difficult circumstances too. Would some of the details be different, sure. Would most or all of us, and the Russians be allive. The majority, most probably. Every one of us, no. The Cubans? Those near their missile sites? Hard to say.

Let's hope our country never has to face that kind of a situation again. But does it mean we have to keep other countries from getting anywhere near turning into a Soviet-like power? Sadly, yes. But yet we must be good world leaders as well.
