A request from the 'The American Wild Horse Preservation':

Just last week Donald Trump won the presidential election with a promise to cut through political bureaucracy and give government back to the people. Now let's ask President-Elect Trump to listen to the will of the American public, which overwhelmingly opposes horse slaughter and wants our wild horses and burros protected on our public lands.

Mr. Trump is asking for the citizens' ideas on how to make America great again. Just click the link below to tell him. The stakes could not be higher — tens of thousands of wild horses are at risk of brutal slaughter — so please act today!

Craft your own message, or cut and paste this one: "Please save our American mustangs - living symbols of America's greatness. It's time to fix federal government mismanagement of wild horses and burros. These national icons deserve to be protected and humanely managed, not rounded up and brutally slaughtered."

Thank you for posting this.

I have a question :)

Does this in any way, directly or indirectly, push for horse racing to be abolished.

Either way, thank you for caring about these wonderful souls

You're very welcome, EMD4ME.

The American Wild Horse Preservation organization has never indicated that they are against horse racing in any way. Their main concern is for the well being of our wild horses and burros whose very lives are at risk, due to the cattle ranchers resenting they competing with their cattle for grazing on thousands and thousands of acres of PUBLIC land. Many of them feel that they are a nuisance and should just be captured and slaughtered. I disagree and support the AWHP's efforts.

It wasn't that long ago that this nation, and the world, replied upon the use of horses in just about every aspect of human survival, including in war. As a matter of fact, in WWI: "One estimate places the number of horses killed during the four years of warfare at nearly 8 million." Other courageous animals served this country, as well, but it was the horse (and burro) that we relied upon the most. Therefore, IMO, every horse of today deserves to be revered and preserved in honor of their ancestors; not doomed for convenience; albeit, a daunting task.

The following photo essay is an amazing tribute to the "animals at war" during WWI:
