Giving a medal to a guy who 'isn't exactly Albert Einstein' :D

Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Aretha Franklin, Doris Day.
Presidential medal winners.
Not an Einstein in the bunch.

It's nothing more than a way to thank the more well known supporters of whatever President is in office.

No payback.

Just public relations.

"Well known supporters" comes under that definition.

And when you said payback , I took it in the negative sense of the term, as in getting back at your enemies/opponents ("Payback's a bitch")

Should be interesting to see who the Donald awards next year (if he lasts that long) - David Duke? Not Christie, I bet, but maybe the guy from Duck Dynasty.

You should apply at CNN...they need people who can't handle reality over there. :D

I'm more interested in the newest presidential pardons. I think they said he's pardoned more people from prison than the past 11 Presidents combined.

Anyone want to bet that almost all of them are black?

Long before he started his commute-a-rama, I told people that I feared he'd empty the prisons before leaving office.

I still fear it.

The hag was such a bad draw she couldn't even fill a free concert with major talent headlining.

I'll bet most of them were convicted of NON-VIOLENT drug crimes under draconian sentencing laws, and that if they were convicted of the same crimes today their sentences would have been markedly shorter. In fact, I'll bet most of the people being pardoned served longer sentences than they would have if convicted today.

Some people might think he is correcting a past wrong without regard to race. Of course, there are also those who figure he's just showing favoritism to his black brothers and sisters, and releasing dangerous felons so they can vote for Democratic candidates.

Lots of "thinking" going on here.

Obama never saw a prison he didn't want to empty.
Here or GITMO.
