If Trump loses Florida, it would take Karl Rove 2012 levels of denial to not see the election is over.

He needs Florida, N. Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. All of them.

Otherwise he doesn't have a path.

On the exchanges... Clinton at 0.84 to 1 and Trump at 1.16 to 1.

That's the closest I have seen it.

Not totally surprised. Several months ago, I thought Trump would probably win, but lately I thought Clinton would win based on the betting markets.

Now, it looks like Trump has the momentum.

It's going to be interesting to see how the country handles a Trump presidency!

I have come around to this over the course of this campaign. I did not vote for him thinking he will definitely be a great administrator, but I can sure see that he might be. All the Facebook memes about this or that Trump failures ignore the organizational skill required to put himself in those positions to take risks and succeed in the first place; certainly more than being a token community organizer in old-school Chicago politics.

It is the progressives who are holding fast to some kind of past ideal about what being Presidential means. Here's something new, and they want none of it; funny stuff. :)

I wish he wouldn't put it that way; I'm sure they're trying to find all the votes they can. It ain't over til it's over.

I was just beginning to be amazed by, among other things, that Trump seemed to be winning these toss-ups by enough to be beyond the cheating margin. These last few states haven't reached that threshold yet. Too soon to get cocky.

What if it comes down to a big number like Pennsylvania being close enough to force a recall, that could obviously, with enough time, go either way? Or worse, a tiny state like NH or Alaska that has to wait a week or so to verify a slim margin one way or the other? Hurl-worthy. :p I wish they'd call something so I could go to bed. Please. Enough of the Nazi-fear bullshit.

I'm not referring to Hitler's dream of a thousand year Reich, and starting another world war based on racial superiority.

What I am referring to is that when Trump gives speeches, he's copied many of the phrases that Hitler used, and has admitted as much. He's read them all. The phrasing is meant to persuade, and based on tonight's results, it's worked. During his acceptance speech, he'd make a remark that would draw cheers and applause, and he would stand in-profile, turning this way and that - just like Der Fuhrer.

Like or not, Trump has taken a page from Hitler's playbook when it comes to making speeches. In no way does that mean he'll pursue other goals of the Nazis.

Hillary was smart for taking all that money from Wall Street to deliver high fee speeches. She can walk away a rich loser.

Had she been a humble public servant instead, she might be president, but she'd be much poorer. She would have had to live on her husband's 50 million.

This is what happens when you use your political position to milk the system one 200,000 dollar speech at a time.

Early in the night when the other news shows were not aware of what was happening, Neil Cavuto was already saying that he thought that this could be historic and Mario Baritromo, Stuart Varney, and Lou Dobbs, all seemed almost giddy, even though it was early and the other shows had little no hint at what was about to happen. Wow. What a night. This proves your vote DOES matter. When this processed started I was terrified of a Clinton-Bush final. I started liking Trump when he talked about the deals our politicians made often screwing us over. Along the way I felt Trump became exposed. I was never voting Hillary and ended up voting a third party. Today I wake up optimistic. I believe people are taking their country back. The Republicans listened to their base and Trump won the primary. The Dems stabbed Bernie in the back and just assumed his voters would fall in line the way Bernie did. Bernie ended up being a big disappointment to me the way he rolled over. On the Dems side this was about Hillary being entitled to the nomination.

I'm glad the people lied to the pollsters. These polls I believe have steered elections in the past. I think Trump voters were shamed by the media and hid their intent. Some Trump voters are indeed the way Hillary defined them. But most are not. I believe Trump can bring this country together. I believe he will call out people on both sides of the aisle working against us. I haven't been optimistic about our government in a long time. Today I am. Congrats to Donald Trump......

There is a final scene in the Robert Redford movie The Candidate...where Redford -- sitting in a chauffeured-driven limo after winning a most improbable run for the U.S. Senate -- turns to his campaign manager Peter Boyle and asks, with a bewildered look on his face: "Marvin...what do we do now?". One thing I have to say about Trump. That man has more energy than any human being I have ever witnessed. I have seen some crazy workaholics in my day, but that man is in a league all his own. I was casually following his activities. He was doing rally after rally every day. He was literally doing nothing but making speeches, flying to the next location (sometimes across the country), non stop, every day. If he took a break it was because he was on TV doing an interview. Having done my own polling traveling around the country for over a year it seemed like everyone I met was for Trump. Lots of comments for Trump without anyone asking, so my hope was for this outcome. Guess he didn't stick his foot in mouth too many times. The polls never asked the right people or the right questions.
Hopefully the elite establishment will be torn apart. We can only guess what the future will bring.

One of my favorite political analysts is George Friedman. His hit the nail on the head with his analysis of the election in this must-read essay:

Clinton’s statement about Trump’s followers struck me at the time, and still does, as amazing. She was then a few points ahead of Trump, which meant that nearly half of the country supported him. By implication, she was saying that half the country is deplorable. Her statement was not only contemptuous, but showed her to be a terrible politician. To win the election, she needed to hold all of her supporters, plus take away some of Trump’s. The deplorable statement drove many off instead.

I have said many times here going back to 2007 that Hillary is not a good politician -- she's book smart, but not people smart. She's out of touch. Obama was a much better politician than Hillary and that's why he won.

Trump is a much better used car salesman (I mean politician) than Hillary and that's why he won.

Can not agree with that, here is why.

Every time a poll call come in on the tele (mostly from SSI) my thought was FO. Folks ringing the doorbell to a no soliciting sign again my thought FO.
My thoughts are most of the door bell ringers will be home smoking marijuana when it comes time to vote. Last week I was working with a number of young people another manager loaned for help getting a project out, I asked how many planned on voting. Three out of thirteen kids in their early twenty's raised hands planning to vote. Don't get me wrong, Hillary got millions of votes, but not even close that could have voted for her.

It was fun to read the play-by-play again. A laugh more than a little, and have to give credit to some of the lefties for their middle-of-the-road comments while it all happened. I never had the chance to participate that night or even watch it live as I had to take someone to the ER. When I got home, Trump was already well ahead, so I missed the build up from "Damn it's Hillary for 4 years" to "Boy if he could just win xyz this would be close" to "Is what we're seeing even possible" to "YES".

What I night that was, and I have enjoyed the discomfiture of the left ever since. :headbanger:
