That's tough, longshot, because it's a combination of many factors.
If I had to list the most important, I would go with:

1. pplines show enough gate speed to almost always be close at the 1/2 pole.

2. Speed ratings trending faster, is more important than best speed in race.

3. Good post draw. 5,4,6 or rail.

4. Race style fits this race, like best inside closer in a race with 3 or more probable leavers.

5. Morning Line faves are bad actors, showing breaks.

Great stuff. I don't think any computer generated picks can show a profit if you include the low percentage posts. And of course closers have to be avoided unless it's at Hooser or Hawthorne, and maybe a few other tracks.
