Does anyone know what the golf greens are doing in the infield at Solano? Par 3 holes? practice range?

Solano is my best track. 9 winning meets out of the 10 years that I've played it, and several of those winning meets have been big time. Considering the meet is only two weeks long, that's pretty good. I'm disappointed today, though, because there's no good reason why I shouldn't have played the 8-horse ($36.80) in the 8th race.

And now I hear that this might be Solano's swan song meeting. Tough luck for me if that's the case.

Recent word from the fair officials is that they have at least 2 more years to go before the track gets torn down for a mall. And it's apparently the track area only that will go, the fairgrounds will remain. Obviously, they're hoping for a simulcast site despite no racing (not currently allowed).

You'll know when everybody starts fighting it out for Solano's racing dates.

Here's a recent quote about Solano and it doesn't sound good:

The fair is not moving and is not going away; the fair is going to be rebuilt better than ever. But the new rebuilt fairgrounds would not include a racetrack. The racetrack takes up 60 of 150 acres for a meet that is essentially two weeks a year where fewer and fewer people are going to the live track.

Here's the article where that quote came from:
