He meant that, according to the odds, any one of at least 5 horses could win the race.

I do not think that you should try to understand with what he possibly meant. In reality his statement is tautological as always and everywhere any horse can win any race..

I can't help but ask, what do YOU mean? Are you passive-aggressively taking a shot a Matt, or do you really not know what "the odds board is telling you that anyone can win" means?

If it is the former, just say, "Matt is a doofus for saying this because the tote board shows distinct order in the odds" or something like that. If it is the latter, the answer is, tautologically (great word! - had never heard of it until now!), "the odds board is telling you that anyone can win".

People will go to any lengths to take pot shots as if there was some alternative network to watch racing on. I for one am just happy there is still TVG. I like the coverage and still appreciate that it's there. 95% of America was watching the NFL so who cares.

Didn't see the broadcast but usually when I hear something like this, the individual doesn't have any strong opinions and feels it's basically a wide open race despite the odds.

Don't read so much into what these guys say most of the time. This thread is kind of amusing because I recall a couple of threads where people complained these guys just give out selections with no chance. Maybe he read them and is providing his honest opinion about that race and still gets slammed.
