3rd at Moh--Mr Varsity..one to add.

Everyone is more than welcome to use this thread, intended to benefit everyone by tracking "odd" things. For example, the horse in the first post would have been a primary contender. It may well be that a softer spot was sought (the eventual winner of that race, #6, was tough to beat).

No suggestion is made of anything remotely involving chicanery or dishonesty--only that overmatching a horse that is ready to win is a recipe for misery all around. And very poor business.

Many such situations arise--horses that should have done well, but did not, for one reason or another. The reasons are not as important as that performance was noticeably different than expected. I think most on this side of the fence can distinguish when something unusual happens, and when a "watch for this one in its next race" is called for.

Thanks for posting.

Glad to contribute, traynor.

No trouble for Mr Varsity, but was much the best last night.

:7: Mr Varsity--trapped on the backside rail, makes a three wide move, stays outside on the turn, and the stretch..rolling outside late.

Even money.

This is definitely not "soon." Looks like a race entry to avoid qualifying. I have not run the race yet, so I really don't know how it stacks up (if at all) against the other entries.
