I was interested in these and tracked for a while--everything over 40% and $2.50+.

I couldn't understand--at the time--why it wasn't profitable. Not even close....

Finally came to realize this was back-fitting of the highest order...and since it's so commonly available today--overbet to the hilt.--NCG

No i don't track em, I usually just use them as a starting point as some horses to take a look at. I throw out the generic angles such as positive ROIs based on only "Claiming Races" or "Routes" for example and try to check out the more specific ones such as "First off the claim" or "Turf to dirt"

I think that you need to eliminate low odds and multiple angle horses 1st.
Then if you look for the trainer angle with the most races, instead of the highest ROI or winning percentage, you should do better.
