I could never understand why the towns people of Mayberry were always so critical of Barney Fife whenever he made a mistake...If the Deputy Sheriff goes down you have a list of characters that would make your hair stand on end.....Gomer and Goober Pyle...Otis Campbell and Floyd the Barber.....Who Would You Choose?

Those are all mighty fine candidates and each has merit...But off the list i would probably choose Opie...Cmon the kid was light years ahead of everybody in that town....Okay sure there was a few bumps in the road like dropping a bottle of perfume or accidentally killing a bird...But Andy Taylor was the boys father.......Now lets dissect my list of candidate's for a moment.....Otis Campbell is OUT. Cmon the guy was smashed half the time and he was in jail half the time. So he should be your first throw out....Floyd the barber could give you a decent haircut if he kept his mouth shut and besides 99 percent of the time outside of the barbershop he could never stand up...So for that reason alone he should be OUT....That leaves the Pyles.......Goober took a car apart and put it back together in the courthouse in impressive time.....And Gomer served in the Military and you know how we feel about our armed forces people........So there you have it.....Those 2 should be your main focus....Some of you might be up all night trying to figure out who is the best candidate....May GOD give you strength on this one..:)

Nobody has even brought up "Asa" the security guard....There wasn't enough hours in a day for this guy.....He was a clerk at the Mayberry hotel plus he had 2 security jobs one at the Mayberry bank and the other at Weaver's Department store...Everybody kept hiring him cause of his rusty bullets....And correct me if i'm wrong on this but didn't he play a Doctor when Goober suffered Whiplash and was staying at Andy's house.....HOW THE HELL IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE....:lol:
