Race One:

:3: Ladies First. Irad. Tony Dutrow. “On the engine”. “Goldilocks”: Not too long, not too short…just right! Decent turf pedigree. Only major concern: The “Bridesmaid Effect”. :1: Wake Up Smiling. Solid Morning Works. Decent Turf pedigree. Linda. Caveat: (Rhetorical) Wants to go longer? Jose Lezcano. :4: Another Genius. Linda, again. First-timer. Questionable turf pedigree. “Bullet” work. However, Dam produced no winners from two starters. Jose Ortiz. :6: Bay Island, “The Sleeper”. Only start on the main: lackluster. Yet, Tom Bush. “Double-A,” Angel Arroyo. However, Trainer has lackluster record with second career races; first on grass. Yet, decent turf pedigree.

Race Two:

:7: Richmond Street. Machiavellian-bred. 2nd in a similar race. Junior Alvarado. Bill Mott. :9: Big Timer. Non-starter in last (reared up) Manny Franco for Graham Motion. Should be coming on in stretch. :5: Sadler’s Joy. Kitten’s Joy-bred. Javier, the master of finding a spot, rating a horse. 2nd Lasix. Yet, a winless trainer and a winless horse on turf. :3: Caldera. A “plodder” Board-hitter? DJ does well with beaten favorites.

Race Three:

:6: Geo Niko. Javier in the irons. Jimmy Jerkens trains. Good with horses who have been on shelf. Solid wet-track pedigree. :2: Salem Loop. Kendrick. Secomd in last on sloppy track at this distance. Fits at this level. A “contendah”. :4: That Makes Sense. Has faced better. Only win, a maiden-breaking route effort on good track at Oaklawn. Luis Saez. :5: Luckybuck Syndrome will take this field as far as his legs can carry. He broke his maiden against better. Aaron Gryder for Bruce Levine.

Race Four:

:1: Detail draws rail and stretches “a teenth”. Should be coming on strong in the stretch. Does he get up in time. “A tick-a, tick-a timing… Must be just right. Irad for Chad. :6: Eqho won his last against slightly better. Moves up a category. Short respite. What impact? Jose Ortiz for Linda Rice. Rice does well with claiming races. :7: Doukas finished third in tougher race, albeit a sprint. Stretches out. A “bridge too far”? Javier for Rudy. Rodriguez does well with beaten favorites. :5: Lady Bling should be closing. Adds “blinkahs”. John Velazquez for David Donk.

Race Five:

:4: Snag drops in for a tag after trying the MSW ranks. The chalk last time (disappointed) yet caught three-wide and bumped. A cleaner trip? Has been on the shelf, but Todd does well in that category (practically all categories). Johnny V. in the irons. :3: Proud Zip could a board-hitting “sleeper”. Has never raced on the lawn, but has turf pedigree. Ian Wilkes does have low percentage, first on grass, but he does very well with 3rd off a layoff. :7: Mr Magic must overcome outside starting post on The Inner. Tough task. Top Jock in Javier Castellano. A closer who, with the right trip, gets his number up on tote board. :8: Jess I Am drops into “selling rabks”. Has early speed. Might find his way to the front. If so, a major factor. Kendrick for John Terranova II.

Race Six:
:1: Weekend Hideaway relishes a wet track (I’m sure, by this time, it might be upgraded to fast (scrumptious day here in MA, pleasantly warm, dry). Should be in a reasonably good stalking position or even on the engine. Luis Saez for Phil Serpe. Serpe does exceptionally well with beaten faves. :3: Ostrolenka was second in the Morrisey at Saratoga. Solid recent work. Javier for Todd Pletcher. :2: Drama King is a colt who has faced better. He was fifth in the aforementioned Morrissey. Gets a softer field. Irad for Rudy. :6: Love That Jazz could be “a sleeper” here. Ships in from Finger Lakes where he was last seen winning a non-graded state-bred stake, Manny Franco for Charley Baker.

Race Seven:

:7: Macagone could be on the engine. If he makes the van position, he could turn out to be a serious player. Jose Ortiz for Michelle Nihei (she has a knack of winning these kinds of races). :10: March must overcome the outside post; yet if he does on The Inner. He appears to be “the class,” second-a-head in the Grade I Hollywood Derby at Delmar. Irad for Chad. :1: Dancetrack was last seen winning a turf route a Suffolk. This colt may be tested for class. He raced against tough competition “Across the Pond” before shipping to America. Bill Mott does well with second off a layoff. :2: Ascend won his last opening week at Saratoga. Retains the services of Johnny V. Graham Motion trains; he does well with allowance types.

Race Eight:

In the Summer Colony non-graded stake, :6: Eskenformoney looks like the horse to beat. The 4 year-old filly was second- a neck in the Grade III Molly Pitcher at Monmouth in her last. Javier rides for Todd Pletcher. :3: Sweetgrass was third in the Shuvee at “The Spa” in her last. She moves up on a wet track. She was ambitiously entered in The Alabama, last year. :4: Rachel’s Temper was second in an optional claimer at “The Spa” in her last. She’s certainly capable of garnering a minor award. Joel Rosario for Charley Baker. :5: Milaya was in the Delaware Handicap in her last. The filly finished up the track in that one; yet she’s most capable of completing an exotic.

Race Nine:
These are the kind of races that try men’s and women’s souls (Thank you, Patrick Henry). Seeing the name Molly Pitcher must have prompted this. What I meant to say is this is the kind of race that Jacqueline Davis wins. Has faced better, yet hasn’t raced since late February at Aqueduct. “A sleeper,” you bet your doopah. Thus, 9 Goldies Luckycharm. 5 Ditchem looks like the horse to beat; yet coming back on short rest after a turf roue (I do like the turf-to-dirt angle) Manny Franco for George Weaver. 3 Splash of Sass has faced better in the past. Switch to Eric Cancel. Would benefit from any moisture. 2 Show River, a Dom Schettino first-time Arazi-bred starter. Watch the board. Watch her on the track. Schettino does well with firsdt-time maiden claiming.
