Race One:

:4: Global Entry is “a sleeper” with potential. I’m willin’ to give this horse “a mulligan” off his poor performance last October at Keeneland. This Flower Alley-bred colt’s dam had three winners from five starters. The razor-sharp Johnny V. is in the irons for the most capable Mike Maker. Maker does well with both shippers and horses that have been on the bench. Morning works are good. Others: :3: , :5: , :1: / :1a:

Race Two:

I see two horses that appear, at least on paper, to be the top contenders in this claiming sprint, n3L. :7: Evolution was overmatched in his last, an allowance sprint; well, he now drops in for a tag. This Gone West-bred chestnut gelding should find this field much more to his liking. Joel Rosario for Dave Cannizzo. :1: Tashreeh draws the rail and retains the services of both Jose Ortiz and trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. McLaughlin does well with horses entered in sprints. This gelding is also dropping in company. Others: :3: , :6:

Race Three:

:5: Freud’s Friend is my choice in this short-field, non-graded turf sprint, The Skidmore. This Freud-bred colt won his last at this distance, despite shying twice in the stretch. He’ll probably race less greenly now with a race under his belt. Charley Baker trains; Manny Ortiz is in the irons. Others: :6: , :1: , :3:

Race Four:

:5: Natural Order may just be today’s longshot special, at least off this chestnut gelding’s morning-line odds at 15-1. This hard-knocking 4 year-old hasn’t run a poor race in a month of Sundays. The turf pedigree is certainly evident: Speightstown, Giant’s Causeway. This gelding also gains the services of one of this nation’s most skilled jockeys, Javier Castellano. Roy Lerman – he does well with horses that have been on the bench – is this gelding’s conditioner. Lerman does exceptionally well with beaten favorites. Others: :10: , :1: , :3:

Race Five:

:3: Securitiz brushed the gate at the start of his last race. That gate incident seemed to compromise his chances. This horse has the kind of early speed to put him in an excellent stalking position; he also has the kind of stamina (second in the 11-panels Flat Out Stakes in May) to get the 9-furlongs distance. Joel Rosario for Jimmy Jerkens.
Others: :2: , :1: , :5:

Race Six:

:3: Mambo At the Gym has hit the board in five straight races. Is today the day this Bernstein-bred visits the winner’s circle? The slight cut-back should also help. So too, the services of Jose Ortiz and trainer Dave Duggan. Others: :7: , :6: , :9:

Race Seven:

:10: Riot Worthy is my pick in this 7-panels state-bred allowance, n1x. This A.P. Indy-bred filly takes the blinkers, a category, his trainer, Charley Baker does well with. Baker also does extremely well with beaten favorites. This filly went off at 3-to-4 in a similar race at Belmont in mid July. This 3 year-old is cutting back a panel, that should help. Joel Rosario’s in the irons. Others: :8: , :1: , :5:

Race Eight:

:6: Full Tap gets my nod in this OC turf sprint. This Tapit (Pulpit)-bred, highly-priced, lightly-raced won her last at Arlington Park in early-to mid July. Any repeat of that race and this Mike Stidham-trained More Than Ready-bred could once again find her way to the winner’s Circle Joel Rosario’s in the stirrups. Others: :7: , :8: , :9:

Race Nine:

:9: Final Chapter is my choice in this OC turf route on The Inner. This this Thunder Gulch-bred chestnut colt has an early turn-of-foot that should allow this 4 year-old to put himself in a good stalking position before the field arrives at the first turn. This colt moves up in class after his last winning effort (he’s won two in a row). The Hall of Fame trainer, Bill Mott, is this colt’s conditioner. Mott does particularly well with winners of their last race. Joel Rosario reprises the ride. Others: :3: , :2: , :5:

Race Ten:

In the Grade II 200k Adirondack to be contested over the distance of 6 and ½ panels, my pick is: :3: Olive Branch. This Speightstown-bred bay filly did not run her race in her last effort, the Grade III Schuylerville. In that one, this filly was shown a modicum of interest in by the betting public, but a last minute shoe repair may (I say may…) have effected this filly’s preparations. In any event, a chance for redemption. Jose Ortiz is in the irons; rick Violette, Jr. trains. Violette does well in conditioning 2 year-olds. Others: :7: , :1: , :5:

Race Eleven:

In the finale, a maiden-claiming turf sprint, my pick is :9: E Warfare. First time on the grass, but with a turf pedigree, e.g., Storm Cat, Langfuhr. This 3 year-old filly could surprise…at a price! Second in both her main-track efforts (one came on a sloppy track), she should both take to the grass and enjoy the distance. My only concern is the relatively unknown trainer, Juan Ortiz. Yet, the dam, E Ticket, produced three winners from four starters. A solid recent “bullet” workout signifies readiness. Manny Franco is in the irons. Others: :10: , :7: , :5:
