View Full Version : Best Racebooks in Reno, Nevada..anyone know?

Might go to Reno sometime soon and was wondering where to land as far as race books....some casinos have really downsized their race book sections so I'm left not knowing where to go anymore....any suggestions?

i'd say THE ATLANTIS is a good place to go to. i don't think any of them take house q's any longer, so betting wise they are all the same, the action is all pari mutuel.

From way back when I knew Reno, 1993-94 this is what I recollect:
Club Cal Neva is a dumpy place with great atmosphere, have to at least check it out including the sportsbook.
Reno Hilton, might be something else now, had nicest room. El Dorado and the "new" place related to it would be worth chexking out.
Flamingo Hilton and Ascuaga's Nugget on Sparks were good too.

But I await updated reviews. Reno is a nice, different place to visit. Mile High City.

Vigors,

The newest/nicest book is the Grand Sierra. Very quiet.

Atlantis is the most negotiable. If you are a pretty good size player, you can ask for the manager and they can give you a rebate in the form of comps. (Cash is not legal for rebates on horse racing in NV.)

(Special note: They might say they can't but they can.)

The others are pretty much a waste these days.

BTW, Atlantis recently re-did their buffet. Exactly the same food but the price is now 40% higher. Ironically, the senior discount is more than the player's card.

Let me know if you have questions about any specific hotel and I'll try to answer best I can.

PS: Reno is not "mile high." It is mostly between about 4,200 and 4,700.
