Doctors won't sign off for him to play again, so his career is done. An interesting comparison with his dad:

Cecil Fielder 319 career HRs $46.9 million in salary
Prince Fielder 319 career HRs $128.9 million in salary

72 million to do nothing. I hope he doesn't blow it all at once. :D

Maybe the worst trade the Rangers ever made. Didn't understand why they went after fatboy to begin with. He clogged up the base paths, couldn't cover ANY ground when he played first. Detroit skinned Daniels on that trade

Yeah, he was damaged goods when the Rangers got him. On the other hand he (along with Adrien Beltre) has had a major impact the way young players on the Rangers play the game.

This team has four starters 22 years old and younger who never give up and play every play with maximum intensity no matter the score. Four starters age 22 and younger and they have the best record in baseball. Prince has had a lot to do with cultivating this attitude.

You're right, forced. He was well liked in the clubhouse apparently

But kinlser was worth at least a bullpen piece + a prospect. The bullpen in 2014 could have used some help given the over use scheppers and Ross had the year prior. Fielder offered little.

Have to agree. Was there friction with Kinsler and the Texas front office? Its been a few years so I may be getting that mixed up. Definitely a trade they wished they didn't make.

I shiver to think what Prince will look like in ten years without having to stay even in minimally acceptable shape for baseball.Guy hasn't missed too many meals over the years.
