Amazing!

Always thought this was the most accessible record in sports. Surprised it's taken this long.

Shot a 58 once...thunderstorm hit on the 14th hole.

Best round ever was a 69, crazy day with a lot of luck. Think my next best round was a 75. I haven't played in almost four years though since back issues cropped up, those days are finished.

Lowest round was a :9: :1: .

Until I learn how to use a driver, the 91 is safe. :(

I shoot 58 every time I play. I just have to remember to walk off the course when I reach it.

76 on a par 70 course...even par 36 front...40 on the back. Went to Myrtle Beach the following week and couldn't break 90

77 on a par 74, only time I broke 80. It was a long course but I was hitting 300+ yard straight drives when metal clubs first came around. I usually shot low to mid 80's playing from the championship tees. I played like a pro until you put a pitching wedge or a putter in my hand. I would get beat by my Step-dad who I could out drive by over 100 yards, because he could pitch and put. Started playing when I was 10 had to quit at 39 because of back surgeries.

We need to hear from tee. He is the board golf hustler and my first pick in the PA Scramble. Joeprunes is my next pick.

What would you say are some records that will NEVER be broken?

I've got two.

I strongly believe no player in the NBA will ever average over 50.4 points per game which Wilt did in the 1961-62 season.

No trainer will win 6 consecutive Belmont Stakes to pass Woody Stephens' 5 in a row from 1982-86.

Currently a 10 handicap, got as low as a 7 a couple of years ago.

I shoot about 3-5 rounds a year in the 70s, never have done better than a 76 on a regulation course.

Love the game and play every weekend...just played Cog Hill - Dubsdread last week (former home of the Western Open) and carded an 85.

Two career holes-in-one...25 years apart!

No pitcher will break Johnny vandermeer's (sp?) record of two consecutive mlb no hitters. Three no no's in a row is impossible

Shot an even par 71 at the old meadowbrook gc in ft worth as a sophomore in high school. ....took an interest in ice hockey the year prior, never shot under 75 after that 71 to my recollection

I think the way they manage pictures in modern times Cy Young's 749 career complete games are safe and his 511 wins probably are also.

What's amazing is that there were two 58s in one week. Stephan Jaeger shot a 58 on the Web.com tour that got very little publicity.

Once had a harmonic convergence of my ball-striking and short game to post an 8 under 64. Unfortunately that magic has moved on to parts unknown.

I've shot in the 70's quite a few times in my life. None lately, Too old. don't practice anymore. Only play once a week. Now I'm hopefully in the 80's but most of the time I don't recognize myself out there. Frustrating. Too competitive, time to practice or quit...:) Probably my best golfing feat was three birdies in a row. Twice. The fact Furyk shot 58 on a Par 70 course does that lessen the achievement at all? Friend of mine thinks it does, I told him then someone else would have already done it. 58 is pretty cool. Unless it's your age.

67 on Norman course at PGA West I looked that course up. I lived in that area when I was a kid. If you did that from the black tees that was a seriously great round. Even though I stopped playing when I was 39 (2000) I did most of my playing from the age of 10 to early 20's (Back issues). I see it has a very high course rating of 75, I understand that, but what does slope of 139 mean? I think they came out with that after I gave the game up.

The definition of slope from the USGA:Slope Rating®: A Slope Rating is the USGA® mark that indicates the measurement of the relative playing difficulty of a course for players who are not scratch golfers, compared to scratch golfers. It is computed from the difference between the Bogey Rating and the USGA Course Rating times a constant factor and is expressed as a whole number from 55 to 155.

A course rating is based on what a scratch golfer would shoot. PGA West Norman course has a scratch rating of 75.1 and a bogey rating of 100.9. The 24.8 difference computes to a 139 on the slope scale.

Thanks, the bogey rating is interesting and makes sense. In my mid 30's I played with a couple guys who shot around 90 at your average run of the mill public course, take them somewhere long littered with big trees and other hazards and they shot 100-110. Since I was long off the tee, very accurate and consistent till it came to short pitch shots and putting I pretty much was good for 10 over no matter if I played on an easy short course or a long tough one.

I did not play from the back tees. It was a fun round. One that included an eagle, 5 birdies and a double bogey.
