Legendary ambassador for the city of New Orleans, fantastic jazz musician, Pete Fountain has died at 86.

In the infield at FairGrounds Race Course in New Orleans sits Pete's Fountain

here's a classic religious song by Pete, Just A Closer Walk With Thee

Here's another song that exemplifies the magic sound of Pete Fountain.

I believe I saw this show on cable when I lived in NOLA in early 90s. I would drive around Bay Saint Louis, MS., many a time looking to meet him. I'd wanted him to autograph a half dozen or so albums of his that I owned.

So true Phantom; one of the very best jazz musicians.

I was at the Fairgrounds (I think it was 1990, but not positive) on a Sunday during the third day of a Sartin Methodology Handicapping Seminar when the fountain was dedicated to Pete. He played throughout the entire day.
