Race One:

:4: Cat Fiftyfive switches from turf (limited success) to dirt (modest success). Tale of the Cat (Storm Cat)-bred colt moves up on wet surface. The grey colt now drops in for a tag. Jockey Ricardo Santana, Jr. is having solid meet. Trainer Jim Lawrence, II does reasonably well with claiming events. Others: :6: , :5: , :3:

Race Two:

In this 5 and 1/2 panels on the main, I’m trying to figure out the winner from a vast array of first-time starters. Well, I’ve settled on :14: Twofreeknights. I like the pedigree on this 2 year-old first-time starting bay filly, e.g., A.P. Indy, Unbridled. Should benefit from outside starting post. Trainer Gary Gullo does reasonably well with 1st time starters. Others: :11: , :5: , :1:

Race Three:

In the Grade III Shuvee, I like :1: Carrumba. Two for two on a wet track. Should be stalking. Jose Ortiz for “Shug”. Others: :3: , :2:

Race Four:

:7: Proud Zip is my longshot try. Solid wet-track breeding: City Zip (Carson City). This 3 year-old bay gelding looks like the early speed. Only question is the added distance. Junior Alvarado for trainer Ian Wilkes; he does reasonably well with first at a route. Others: :1: , :9: , :8:

Race Five:

:3: Dad’z Laugh is my pick. This Kingmambo-bred appears to relish the wet going (a first and a second in three tries). Add to the mix the services of Jose Ortiz and Bruce Levine. Consistent board-hitter who moves up on a wet track. Others: :6: , :1: , :4:

Race Six:

:9: Dreamsdocometrue is my longshot try in this race that’s been taken off the lawn. This Pulpit-bred, an MTO, is a consistent sort who fits very well in this field. Trainer Steve Klesaris does very well with horses going sprint-sprint-route. Others: :6: , :7: , :5:

Race Seven:

:5: Blind Pool has wet-track breeding written all over her: Awesome Again, Deputy Minister, Forestry. If pedigree is any indication, this 2 year-old filly should be in the mix. Javier Castellano for the red-hot Chad Brown. Add a solid morning work. Others: :10: , :9: , :7:

Race Eight:

:7: Unbridled Juan draws in as an MTO. He looks like a contendah. Wet-track pedigree. Jimmy Jerkens. Recent solid 5-panels works. Should add up to a trip to the winner’s circle. Others: :2: , :10: , :11:

Race Nine:

:9: Celtic Chaos is my choice. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin is having an outstanding meet. Jockey Eric Cancel is most capable. Solid wet-track breeding. Others: :4: , :10: , :8:

Race Ten:

:9: Miss Matzoball is my pick in The Caress. Solid wet-track pedigree. Definetely a sprinter; Smoke Glacken. Javier Castellano in the irons for trainer Roy Lerman; he does well with horses who have been on the bench. Others: :1: , :5: , :2:

Race Eleven:

:8: Nominal Dollars ships in from Ellis; he did well in his most recent race, a second in a 30k allowance. Has never raced on and turf and won’t do so today. This gelding has solid wet-track confirmation, e.g., Northern Afleet (Afleet). Joel Rosario is in the irons for trainer Joe Sharp (he does well with shippers. Others: :5: , :3: , :1:
