9th @Mountaineer: 6F Clm5000N2X ~ purse $6,200 ~ 7/26/16
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3YO+Up, non-winners of two races.
(WV-Bred races not considered in eligibility)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: 5YO JBM (Just Broke Maiden) made Even-Money fave
facing slow winners? Foes hardly ferocious, but let's look for an up-setter.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Lightemupbud (Even-Money ML Fave)- Never seriously asked in
local debut. Ortiz sticks, likely has to gun from rail & still get +110 yards.
2) Reademndeletem (5/1 ML)- Lone class dropper, 3YO goes T-2-D
for Trainer having career year saddling for new owners D&D Stable.
3) Skip the Lawyer (8/1 ML)- 3YO returns to site of maiden breaker,
reunites w/Lagunes. Huge ML price for elite trainer that may get trip.
4) Coffee Man (15/1 ML)- Lifetime 1/40. J/T combo blew up the tote
here Sunday on runner with similar putrid form. Doubt a repeat explosion.
5) Emeis (30/1 ML)- Add a Zero to ML price,& still not tempted.
6) Eurostory (15/1 ML)- The thought Coffee Man is same ML price
eludes me. 4YO goes R-2-S, has right style if fave falters. Won at 6F.
7) Twisted Knight (10/1 ML)- Middle move noted in local debut
when ice-cold on board. Outside speed, 3YO could move forward here.
8) Angelo's Walk (3/1 ML)- 4YO broke maiden in local debut after
making LosAL to Mountain ship for smart owner vs. a bunch that Peter
Berry described being "All on the wrong lead." Third behind two faves
last out, & back to Parker. IMO the one to beat with better break.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE BOTTOM LINE: Unless inside paths suddenly improve, or
Ortiz can get off rail early, #1-Lightemupbud will have to be tons the
best to repeat stretching out 110 yards. Maybe he can smoke'em again.
Don't be shocked at post-time if #8-AngelosWalk is co-fave w/Parker,
and 4YO should get 6F distance. #2-Reademndeletem will be a key DNC
hunch bet. Years past trainer would be auto-toss, not w/D&D Stable.
#3-SkipTheLawyer grinded out win here 2 back, may get 1st run if
fave flames out final furlong. #6-Eurostory cuts back for Owner/Trainer
that can pop at a price, & you know Euro can get the 6F.
In my Pick-5, I'm going two deep to beat ML Fave: #'s 3/8.
In Pick-4, spreading even more, four deep: 2/3/6/8.
(if you have an +8/1 singled earlier in sequence, add #1 as saver)
GOOD LUCK TO ALL, & See You at NIGHT SCHOOL!

8th @Mountaineer 5.5F F&M Clm5000N3Y ~ purse $6,800 ~ 7/26/16
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fillies & Mares, 3YO+UP, non-winners of three races in 12 months.
(WV-Bred races not considered in eligibility)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: As the horse in "Ren & Stimpy" said,
"NO SIR, i didn't like it!". Invading ML Fave goes Turf-2-Dirt, but
seems like one of those MOTO picks that often don't work out.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Ideal Place (2/1 ML)- Top Owner/Trainer/Jockey(Ates filling in for
suspended Clouston), 6YO scored in local debut, 2nd to entrymate
two back, but other two tries at this N3Y level uninspiring. Underlay.
2) Repossee (7/2 ML)- Goes for 3-peat on class raise,5/9 locally,
will get great trip chasing "Target Speed".7YO added Front bandages last.
3) Chifa (10/1 ML)- Look no further for early leader w/alert start.
Speed+Fade at this level two back when 20/1. Can 6YO get distance?
4) Prize Fever (20/1 ML)- After 2015 going 0/12, 9YO's hit jackpot
twice in 2016, @20/1 & @70/1. My Temp's not rising at Prize win here.
5) Em Rocz (9/5 ML Fave)- Turf-2-Dirt for 6YO making local dirt
debut. Likely rolls from off-the-pace, & her back Beyers beat this bunch.
6) Roma's Gal (9/2 ML)- ANOTHER 9YO enjoying solid year, also
looking for 3rd win in 2016. Pvt.Purchase has moved up past pair.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE BOTTOM LINE: Barring poor break, pace scenario looks
crystal clear. Chifa clears early, Repossee & Roma's Gal take up
chase, Em Rocz sits off those two, with Prize Fever & Ideal Place
taking up the rear. Turning home, Rep & Roma swamp Chifa, with
Em getting into bid-lane bias mode. Prize Fever & Ideal Place try
to get in gear from rear. 16th pole, Em has collared top pair, &
needs to hold off deep closers. THE WINNER?
I'll EAT THE CHALK in 8th, since I'm spreading in closer,
hoping I'm not making a MOTO Mistake!
GOOD LUCK to ALL, & See You at Night School!
