Hello All, getting a bit tired of having to run to my local OTB every time I want to make a bet or watch a race. Years ago when I was first getting heavy into thoroughbred racing/betting I joined an online wagering site called YOUBET.com.

My handicapping/business partner and I used it for a few years with no issues at all except that it took almost a month to receive any money we would withdraw... When my partner and I went our separate ways and I stopped playing the horses I forgot all about the site. A recent search brings you to the same named homepage but it looks cheap and seems to have been revamped as a one-stop for all things betting station.

I have recently gotten back into playing the horses and would like to get myself set up with a trustworthy and reliable online wagering site for horse racing ONLY. I do not like the sites that offer betting on casino games or other sports such as foot ball, etc.

I live in New York, so obviously want to use a North American based site.

What site do you guys use? And what do you feel are its best features and maybe 1 or 2 things you dont find too appealing, or would change?

Again, a recent search a few days ago I came across this site; http://www.xpressbet.com/

Does anyone have any experience with that site?

Thank you in advance!

Living in NY gives you a lot of options, here are thoughts on several ADWs & some of what they offer. All seem to have a new member sign up bonus, sometimes higher at one point in the year than others, no harm signing up for all & seeing which you're most comfortable with. Each also has some drawbacks (like not offering all tracks to wager on) but also some unique things to like, so nobody stands out overall for me.

Nice things about all of them is all deposits/withdrawls I have linked directly to a checking account which involve no fees no matter how many transactions I make, and depending on certain limits most deposits are instantaneous, and withdrawls show up in 2 days usually, and all these ADW's offer live video & replays of all tracks as well (not sure if NYRA bets has other track replays actually)

Capital OTB - has the best cashback rewards especially for high volume players, runs on the same platform as Twinspires' ADW.

NYRA Bets - if you like attending the races in NY in person this ADW might help get you some perks there.

DRF Bets - same platform as Xpressbet, but you can get free DRF PPs for betting $25 per card.

TVG - I've seen them offer some bet $500 get $500 promos, usually near Breeders' Cup time, so keep an eye on that for signing up. No live tellers to bet through on the phone if that's something you're looking for, I believe the other ADWs have that but not positive.

Hope that helps give some direction to the options available for you.

Thank you for the quick reply! I will certainly look into them tomorrow after work. I agree that some of the sign up bonuses are very attractive at any given time, and to go on what you had mentioned with DRF, Xpressbet.com i offering free DRF PP's as a sign up bonus. I am already a member with DRF and NYRA because I sometimes go to Belmont but also because I get my specific formatted PP's from DRF online as it is and I use NYRA to watch live racing and replays. I like DRF options too, such as the HORSE/TRAINER/JOCKEY watch. It has proven to be very useful to me in the past. Alerting me when a specific Horse has been entered into a specific track with trnr/jockey.

Have you saw Xpressbet for yourself though? I really like it! Its got a really nice and easy on the eyes layout, and has all and any of the tracks I would be betting.

Thanks again! Oh and, I never heard of Capitol, I will look into it!

I use expressbet. It's not perfect but it has HD video for some tracks and I haven't had any issues with wagering. Conditional wagers and wager cancellation options. They also have some small contests.

I used to use twinspires, but had a couple issues with them. One time I bet into a Derby/Oaks double pool early morning before work and when the bet went through it went into an incorrect pool, but customer service said I couldn't prove it happened.

Find somewhere that will give you rebates. This adds up to more than any signing bonus. The places are there, you just have to look.

I'll just give you 2 to avoid: Watch and Wager & BetAmerica. The former is very, very slow to credit deposits if done through your bank account. While others will credit funds immediately to your wagering account, Watch and Wager consistently takes 5 days and the money will have been removed from your bank account several days before it is available to bet. I had a terrible experience with BetAmerica when making a withdrawal that was delayed for about 10 days due to some lame excuse they gave me about changing banks. I'd steer clear of both of these.

I've been using xpressbet for years. I also have other accounts, but xpress is, as a rule, my top choice.
They have a referral program of which I am a member. If you are interesting in working through them and let me send you an invitation I get a nice little perk which costs you nothing. So if you're interested send me a PM and I'll submit your info pronto.

If you like playing at a ADW that isn't licensed or regulated then they are the place to play.

Are any sites legal in Texas?

I have TVG, Twinspires and Expressbet but I like Expressbet the best. TVG is too convoluted and you have to pay five dollars to make a deposit in certain instances. TS I do not like the screen and replay process. I have none of these issues with Expressbet and I just cashed in about 75,000 pts for a $100 rebate. There may be better out there but I am very satisfied with Expressbet.

No. I have to drive the 15 or so miles to Lone Star's Bar and Book to bet. Truly a hassle. On the other hand the Bar and Book is a great facility!

Yeah, I go there sometimes. Other times I go to Winstar.
I also use ehorse but I can't see real time odds or watch the races unless it is on TV.

I did a big write-up on the big three (XpressBet, TwinSpires, TVG) about 2 years ago here on the site, particularly for mobile wagering. I use all three, and spread my bets out on all three. Why? No reason now. Originally, only Xpressbet did a BlackBerry App. So I needed them for Mobile, then I used TwinSpires on my Android because that app worked great, and TVG was my favorite for Laptop.

Now? Most offer about the same experience on your Smartphone, Tablet or Laptop. Most don't have an "App" any longer but just render your mobile phone from there mobile site, like m.tvg.com that puts you on the mobile touch site rather than tvg.com that gives you the full desktop/laptop experience.

They all have benefits, and many will find a few faults with each. If I had to go with just one, I'd probably go with TVG because of the way it's designed and the ease of flying through the site. Also, you get free Timeform US handicapping if you bet the race you are pulling the PP's from. Although Twinspires and Xpressbet are not too distant 2nd. I happen to like TimeformUS, but if you prefer Brisnet then TwinSpires gives you free Brisnet if you bet the same race, and XpressBet does Equibase.

One thing worth mentioning if you ever will do mobile wagering; If you own an iPad or an iPhone, TVG still offeres EXCELLENT applications for their site for iOS. I end up dong a lot of mobile capping and wagering via my iPad when I am at a busy track and don't want to stand in long lines to get to the betting window. The TVG app is excellent on iPad and works good on iPhone.

Most of the "Sub" AWD sites run their order entries through one of the big three, so if you go with a smaller service, they may be using the big three platform for execution of wagers anyway, with a different storefront online.

As someone stated, see who offeres the best cash back for signing up and give the a try. Youc an always close the aco**** and go with someone esle if you are not happy. Many will keep your account open, however, even if you keep a buck in there. I think I went over a year once with no action on TwinSpires with only 15 cents in the account and they kept it open for me.

All three offer good service in my opinion, and have "customizable" user interfaces so you can set up a custom user interface on your laptop or desktop with what you like and how you like to see the screen resolve. I'll just mention that Twinspires "TV" Order Entry is probably one of the simplest user interfaces I have ever seen and is probably the best for first time online wagerers or for those that are not computer literate or not very analytical.

My favorite is Twin Spires. The online site has the "Pro" wager pad that I find the easiest and fastest to use. The mobile site is pretty good. They debit and credit in one day. Others take longer. I'm a weekend player so the rebates don't mean that much to me.
