What do you think of this jockey being in the Horse Racing Hall of Fame?

"How many things have you done 48,413 times in your lifetime? Toss out sleeping, eating, blinking and smiling and count again. His name is being tossed around for the 2017 Hall of Fame. To date he has 6,628 wins, 6,283 place finishes, and 5,973 show finishes. That has him 18,883 times in the money (top 3), and with over $41,816,149 in purses to his credit and a career win percentage of 14% and 39% (ITM), he is currently the 11th all-time leading rider for wins. It’s hard to imagine doing something so many times with such success.

He has made a nice living and anybody doing that job as long and as well as he has deserves our admiration. That said, I personally couldn't vote for him. You gotta do it in the big leagues for me.

6600 wins makes him an auto-in IMO. And in this rare case my opinion does matter as I have the privilege of being a voter in the Hall of Fame selection process.

One of my votes for induction will be cast for Perry.

Good. Even if the prevailing opinion reflects that he was too minor league to qualify, I'm sure it will be an honor for him to at least get some support. I love seeing the meat and potato guys that worked every bit as hard and accomplished every bit as much in their own world get their due recognition. Some of these guys were just one lucky break and a good agent from getting there via the traditional route.

I first saw him ride when I was about 14 or 15. He's a few years older than me. I cannot believe he is still riding. My old man liked to bet him.

Many weekends at Beulah in my teens.

I have to think hall of famers can only come from the big leagues. But he's surely an iron man.

After the last few years I bet I cannot even get on a horse. I had to climb a chain link fence today (4 ft) and seriously thought I might have to call the fire Dept.

Good on you Outz!
